Caught an Indian intern watching cricket one day in his office, I tried getting into, but found it to be like watching paint dry.

I know right.

Then they tell you the score like India had 2 overs and shite like anyone knows what that means.

They cover cricket, tennis, golf, soccer, the Olympics, the World Cup, and other sports. What does that tell you?

Apparently, ESPN radio is wising up about covering NASCAR talk. They used to have an early morning Sat show. I just turned the radio off. Now, they've dropped NASCAR and I can listen to normal sports talk again.

I watch it when I can. Many people find baseball boring, but don't realize all the intricacies of each pitch, each slight field alignment change, etc.

Cricket is very similar. Probably has a lot to do with whichever sport you grew up with.

Cricket, even in the 5-day test form, can be enthralling when the teams are evenly matched. The one-day forms (50-over and 20-over) provide more concise, offensive action. The 20-over format is the world event going on right now.

The final will be on ESPN2 next weekend. Might be worth a look if you've never seen it live.

It tells me they cover some sports. They don't even really cover cricket and rugby. They have links to cricket and rugby on ESPN, but it takes you to different sites. Sites that were sold to ESPN.

ESPN doesn't actually cover those sports.

Because ESPN is smarter than you.

This. If ESPN can get just 1 more viewer because of the Cricket updates they give on the ticker, they are making more $$$ and happy.

And its not like youre bitching about it being on TV. Youre bitching about ESPN giving updates and scores on its ticker on the bottom of the screen. Who really cares about that?

Do you know how many people here want some kind of update on cricket matches? A lot. Cricket is the 2nd most popular sport in the World.

ESPN covers whatever makes money. We are now in a global market. They'd be foolish to only cover "American" sports. They know that if they truly want to be the worldwide leader of sports, they have to keep growing, and mostly into international markets.

Cricket scores are on the bottom line on ESPN right now

good god, is the screen wide enough? cricket matches often have each team scoring hundreds of runs. I don't know much about the game but still find it a lot more interesting to watch than soccer.
