Why does Cal use the same excuse every time he's in a close game?

"i'm still trying to figure it out, i don't have seniors" or things along those lines.

Dude, you haven't had a team full of JRs and SRs in forever. Seems to be his go to line nowadays

Because it's much harder to keep freshmen and sophomores motivated.

Is it really an excuse if it's the truth?

And part of it is him taking it on instead of putting it on the players themselves. Much easier to deal with "I'm still trying to figure it out" than "they're still trying to figure it out".

But we know, we know. Cal can only recruit rabble rabble.

Cal never sugarcoats or gives his team too much credit, always. Like him or hate him, he's honest. Yeah it may be a fall back for when they do lose, but it is also 100% true.

He never said he missed having seniors. Just that he doesn't have any.

He ain't lyin'. His 2012 Championship team had a senior glue guy (Darius Miller).

Cal is a smart guy - he's not blowing smoke up anyone's arse, either. He'll use last night's game as motivation for future games.

It's basically true, but that is his MO...get the best talent and it only stays a year or two. But it's the risk he takes, and he has been very successful that way.

Same with LSU recruiting. Hard to call yourself NFLU and sell guys on getting them to the league, but complaining when juniors leace every year.

What'd he say at halftime last night?

"I'm going to ask them nicely to start playing better" or something like that.
