Said they should have gone for two to myself because they run the risk of never getting a chance to win if they lose the coin flip. Lo and behold. Is there some strategy I'm not thinking of right now that made going for 2 a terrible idea?

Because that's an idiotic decision on the road.

most nfl coaches arent going for two in that scenario. 99 out of 100 times they are going into overtime.

Ok. Why? They lost the coin flip and never got a chance to win.

It's just controversial if you fail to convert it, but not a bad idea. I'd take college's overtime anyday.

Probably the success rate of 2pt conversions is what you're not thinking of.

Why? People say play to win on the road and play for OT at home. Doesn't apply here?

That's a good philosophy because "people say it?"

2 yards to win the game

OR

A chance to never touch the ball again

Give me the first option every time. ESPECIALLY with how deflated the Cards defense was after giving up a 97-yard TD drive in like 45 seconds

Exactly. You have the game right there. Take it.

They had a chance to win. The chance was getting a stop on defense. And the chance of winning the coin toss and driving down the field for a TD. It's easy to say they should have gone for 2 in hindsight but it's not the right call.

It's your theory, why don't you tell me why it's a good theory, more than just you always heard that cliche.

Because of shite storm from fans and media that would ensue.

Also a chance to win the game without the other team touching the ball.

Because the fans and road weariness are amplified as the game wears on. I thought it was common knowledge OT generally benefits the home team.

So you're saying coaches should have no vision or leadership, just make decisions based on media/fan backlash?

No, no it's not. They could've won it right then and there without Arizona ever getting the ball back. Now, it turns out that Green Bay never got the ball back!

Yeah, coaches are terrified of the backlash, but in reality, lining up to go for two would scare the absolute shite out of every fan/player/coach on the other team.

Why? Because it's 2 yards and the game is over. No coin toss, no relying on defense or kickers - just two yards.
