Why do the Jets not resign Plaxico Burress?

Maybe this has already been covered. Apologies in advance if this is the case but...
He was decent for them last year just having been released from prison. Now he is a year removed and presumably in better shape. The J-E-T-S NEED receivers. As far as I know he did not leave on bad terms? What gives?
And why can't the guy find a team beyond the Jets?

I was just wondering why not. Apparently though there is some reason since I am getting "the Joker" reference. If there is a reason (other than the age question) then I honestly had not heard.
I think the age Q is debatable though. He was quite productive last year, especially in the red zone. I thought he at least deserved a shot in someone's training camp, particularly having had a year to truly get in shape.

Plax had more redzone TDs than anyone in the league last year.
