Why do championships mean so much to a quarterback's legacy?

Yet when it comes to a basketball player, who is involved in all facets of the game, people say "It's a team game, championships mean nothing."

Since when do people say championships mean nothing in basketball? If anything I feel like basketball emphasizes them even more.

Have you seen this board the past month with regards to the NBA?

Nobody says, "it's a team game, championships mean nothing in basketball."
If you're a star, championships mean everything to the stars themselves. That's how they measure each other.
When asked who was the better player, himself or Magic:
"Well, I go by success...and he's won more championships, so I'd have to give him the nod." - Larry Bird on Magic Johnson

That's a quote from a different thread on page 1...
I don't believe that QBs should be held to the SB standard, but in basketball, championships do mean a ton IMO.

Kyrie is the quarterback. Maybe you should compare that.
Lebron is more Emmitt Smith than Troy Aikman.

Then who's Irvin?
Skip Bayless always said, he was the straw that stirred the drink.

This is pathetic.
ETA: I found the post. You took a buccaneer88 seriously and actually thinks he speaks for a group of people? You gonna do the same for Madking?

The QB is in charge of every offensive play... He controls the pace and results of EVERY offensive play.... QB'S have to be smart and have great instincts more so than any NBA player. The offensive game in football basically comes down to ONE player... the QB...........

I agree with ALL of this..... YOUR BOY CAM is A perfect example..... He can make things happen even without those things... Even the Great Brady can't say this....... That why I have ELWAY as my #1 QB all-time..................Think about it........ Elway basically took those 1st three Broncos teams to the SB by himself....
Once he got Davis he was even better............ You put Elway with those great o-lines in the 80's Redskins teams and there is no telling how many SB'S they win..................

Disagree.

You think Elway is the best QB of all time?

Championships are an element in determining greatness like stats and accolades, if you're a quarterback with massive resume of all of those, including NFL records, that enhances your position relative to others from an all-time analysis.

Man, I agree with a good portion of your post.

LOL Elway has a lower passer rating than Jeff George AND Kyle Orton, lost 3 Super Bowls, top-15 all-time in interceptions, 2nd most sacked QB in history, and top 5 all-time in fumbles.

IMO Championships mean more than any other factor when determining how good someone is/was. It's literally the goal of the game, no matter what sport you play.

It certainly elevates their legacy compared to others, why no one considers Dan Marino the GOAT despite his immense stats.

And the offense is totally reliant on the competence of the QB. You could have the best offensive line and skill position players in the game, but if you don't have a smart QB who can read the defense and get the offense into the perfect play, that talent up front and out wide is made meaningless.
Football is an ultimate team game where each position relies on the other, but if you don't have a good QB you aren't winning championships in today's game.
