Altuve: .354 BA, 22 HR, 88 RBI, 26 SB, .983 OPS, and 7.29 WAR
Trout: .311 BA, 25 HR, 84 RBI, 21 SB, .991 OPS, and 8.65 WAR
Betts: .322 BA, 30 HR, 96 RBI, 21 SB, .927 OPS, and 7.6 WAR

I think you could give it to any 3 of these guys and you'd be right. Personally I think Altuve has had the most impresive season

How many 5'6" guys have won an MVP before?

I'd give it to Altuve, but if Trout or Donaldson take it I won't argue.

If Sox stay in thick of postseason and the slash lines stay pretty much where they are with Mookie and Altuve, I think it will (and should be) Mookie.

He's gonna make the Phillies relevant again in 2021 when he signs his 10 - $450 million deal

By pretty much any objective measure, it is very close.

It seems every year we come out up with an excuse to not give the MVP to Trout. Sort of like when Shaq was dominating the NBA. And that's how he ended up with only one MVP.

We're going to look back in 30 years and wonder how the hell Trout only won one MVP.

It's going to be a very close vote I think. All three of those guys are having incredible years

Well being the best player on like the sixth worst team in the league isn't much to scream about.

Best player in the league. It's not his fault the front office can't build a team around him. All the advanced stats and traditional stats confirm that he produces more than any other player

He'll be the new poster child for the famed line, "We could have finished last without you."

I'll offer up a new name, definitely a long shot candidate, but I could see David Ortiz getting some serious consideration.

Trout is deserving but you could say the same about 3 other guys. So there will be 3 guys you'll have to come up with an excuse for. Trout playing for one of the worst teams in the league will be his biggest knock

Trout is playing for a team that is 17 games under .500, but he's still near the top of everyone's list even though he has no chance at winning.

Exactly -- I can see it going to any of the 3 leading candidates. But I don't think you can add in, "well, Trout should have won it last year" as an argument for him to get it this year (as I think a previous poster kind of alluded to?).

As things stand, this year, more than any other in recent years, whoever wins will definitely deserve it, and the fan bases of the other 2 leading candidates will actually have legit arguments for thinking "their guy" got robbed.

It's been fun watching these guys master their craft.
