Matt Orum from Mobile is 11 time champ.

Matty O has been playing well this year. I think he is ranked 7 or 8th in the world. Pretty good for an "old guy" in what is increasingly a young man's game. He is tied for 6th in the USDGC after the first round.

Yeah Matt’s having a great year. Not a bad time to be in negotiations for a new contract. I know he would like to stay with Westside, but there’s other companies calling.

We’ll probably have a watch party if Matt’s in contention Sunday. His father Jim was our mentor, so the whole Orum family means a lot to us.

For anybody who would like to try a tournament, the Smackdown held by the Southside crew around April in Mobile is one of the best in the South. Mike and his crew throw an awesome tournament that anyone at any level will enjoy.
Trust me it's worth the trip.

I assume Matty O either posts here or, at least, lurks here.

As big a Bama fan as he is I wouldn't doubt it.

I should have mentioned when talking about how good his year has been that he just won the MVP Open 3 weeks ago at Maple Hill. It was his first Elite tournament win ever. He won from the chase card by 4 strokes.

I played Big Rip and took top 10 in MA3

Matty O broke the course record. TWICE

he made a very challenging course look like putt putt.

Big Rip is an awesome. Highly recommend. Stayed at a campsite in little black creek. We brought a big crew and had a ton of fun

My boss has property with a cabin in Purvis so I plan to stay there. I’m fringe MA3/MA4 but in a big event like that, I’d probably plan down unless my rating goes way up during this year.

Chad? Thanks brother, it means a lot. When I talk about Louisiana disc golfers being such good people, we have one right here. This man brought the biggest iron pot (full of pastaIlaya) I’ve ever seen to our tournament.

Michael Munn and his staff does an absolute fantastic job with the Big Rip. If you want the feel of a big time tournament down here, that’s the one. If you want a cabin, you better be quick.

We know Sylus and his father well in Mobile. Has a ton of talent and so young. Look forward to watching him along the way.

Matt should be back later this month. I’ll have to ask if he knows about the rant.

I found the tournament to be very well organized. Their app was fantastic and provided everything you needed for ease of play. Their payouts were very generous.

The DG community is super chill and fun. Even the Tournament officials were cool as hell. We inadvertently broke a rule of playing a casual round while the last Open card was still playing. Dude came over advised us to be “quiet and chill out on the wooded holes so no one else sees us”

I really cannot say enough positive things about Big Rip.

Shot -2 yesterday at a mountain course. Use disc golf for cardio a couple times a week and it beats hiking.

My first even game was on a mountain course west of Denver. The course name is Beaver Ranch. It was a great round for me.

Jim was such an inspiration. I'm hoping Matty can fill those shoes. He just destroyed the field at the City Park NOLA tourney Saturday.

McCleod Park in Kiln recently expanded to 18 holes. It is now my personal favorite course on the MS gulf coast.

There are a ton of instructional videos on Youtube. I think the best thing you can do is to film yourself and play it back in slo-motion.

I'm heading down to visit friends in Naples in a couple of weeks (we moved back to Virginia) and I can't wait to throw with my plastic flinging buddy while I'm there.

I used to play at a Dallas city park across from Lake Highlands High School.I lived right down the street in the condos on the other side of the railroad trestle.

Morgan Fairchild's parents lived in the other direction.
