Lots of jealousy. Let's put it this way. LSU and Duke played when Shaq was a Jr and Laettner was a SR and Duke destroyed LSU and Laettner dominated.
What Shaq said about that 1991 game where Duke won by 18:
He was not as dominant in the NBA, but he played 13 years and averaged 12 pts and 6 rebs, which isn't too shabby.
In college, he gave definition to the idea of Alpha Male and he was hated for it.
Made no real sense, honestly. He was good and he knew it. Why is that a problem?

He dominated Shaq in his Soph year at Duke. The rematch at LSU, Shaq had a great game other than missing lots of free throws. The problem for Shaq was that Laettner could play outside the 3 point line and drive the ball. Almost everyone had that problem with him.
