Ian Desmond - I think some team will give him $100 million deal. Also Helrickson as he is probaby the best pitcher available

I don’t see Desmond getting $100 million. He didn’t sniff that last year. Maybe if he had maintained his monster first half, but he hit .237/.283./.347 in the second half.

If he does, then I agree that it would be a massive overpay.

Before his injury, I would have said Wilson Ramos easily. He had a career wRC+ of 93 before putting together a career year in his walk season. That's a recipe for a terrible contract but the ACL surgery puts everything in doubt. Now, I believe the most overpaid player in free agency will be Jose Bautista. The guy's 35 years old and has clearly been showing signs of decline this year but some team will overpay him in the hope that he'll be able to return to previous form. They'll end up being wrong.

BJ Upton will forever be the most overpaid FA of all time.

I doubt he gets close to that number of homers next year. Once protection from the other sluggers in Baltimore + their very hitter friendly park aren't there for him, I don't think he'll be as valuable.

Upton was worse. Heyward hates hitting the ball though

How is 5 - $75 worse than 8 - $184 with two opt outs and IIRC Upton had more WAR than Heyward this year

During his two seasons with the Braves Upton hit .184 and .208. As bad as Heyward has been this year at least he still provides defensive value. Upton has one of the worst contracts this side of Hector Olivera.

I've resigned myself to the fact that Boston is going to throw all the moneys at him to replace David Ortiz.
