Game had much larger implications. Also, a kick six for a win! That game was awesome!
Implications, plus at least for devout CFB fans and SEC fans, they knew what happened 2 weeks earlier against UGA.

While it's not really common, it's more common to see a blocked punt turned into a score (even though you rarely see it with that game timing).
to be fair, it wasn't a blocked punt. the punter dropped it, and instead of falling on it he tried to do god knows what and literally tossed the ball to a msu defender.

Panola is made in my hometown. Good stuff! You should try the 10 point sauce.

While the Kick Six was a crazy play I wouldn't call it "stunning". The possibility of a return was clear, especially with such a long kick and Griffith as a freshman.
This. I vividly remember telling my wife (an AU fan) before the kick that I couldn't believe Bama was going to try it because the odds of it getting blocked or returned for a TD outweighed the odds of them making the kick. Candidly, I thought it was going to get blocked, not come up short and returned for a TD.
The Michigan ending was stunning. 10 seconds left. Ball at midfield. The punter only had to kick the ball quickly. It didn't even have to be a good punt. The snap being bobbled was surprising enough, but the fact that the ball popped up right into the hands of a MSU player running towards the endzone was stunning. Forget the fact that the snap was bobbled. If THAT doesn't happen, the ball likely rolls around on the ground for a few seconds (even if recovered by MSU) leaving MSU with only enough time for a long FG or hail mary. It took two very unlikely events to happen to allow the MSU return.

the 1999 Alabama-Louisiana Tech game. Tech was down by 6 with about 45 seconds left, Tim Rattay gets hurt and has to leave the game. Stalworth comes in as his backup and on 4th down with 9 seconds left throws a 22 yard TD pass to Sean Cangelosi for a 29-28 Tech win The quickest I heard 90,000 fans go from screaming to dead silence

In a strange way, TechDawg, you just insulted your own team.
I agree with those who call the Michigan blunder a more stunning turn of events. The sheer magnitude of the double unforced errors, extremely limited amount of time left, and field position made the Michigan blunder unfathomable.
The hubris of Saban fighting for an extra second in order to attempt an ill advised FG prior to overtime certainly ratchets up the stunning nature of the return. And don't get me wrong, it certainly was stunning, but more exciting and unpredictable and epic than just plain stunning.
My vote goes to Michigan v. MSU.

Auburn, not close
How is it "not close"? A kick 6 was stunning but the punter 1) bobbling the snap 2) not falling on it 3) trying to punt it with 11 coming 4) batting it right into an opponent's arms 5) who returns it for a TD was WAY more stunning. Not close? Please

I have to say returning the kicked 109 yards was a great accomplishment and in some ways you have to say a greater accomplishment because of the 109 yards. But Michigan State was considered beat. I think though that a blocked or botched punt or punt return for a touchdown is a more occurring thing than returning a short field goal for a touchdown. But I think that since everyone thought MSU was going to lose makes it more stunning.
You asked stunning which is different form most important. I have to say that we were more stunned at what happened in Ann Arbor.

Agreed. The bama game was tied. Outcome was still in doubt. If Michigan game was tied I could see the argument butbi don't think it's really a discussion

just because you never see this happen
Beckham did this for LSU earlier in the year.
I was at the Iron Bowl that year and specifically mentioned right before the kick that Auburn had a player lined up under the goal post and could return the FG attempt.
Still I say Auburn was more STUNNING based on the #1 vs. #2 and overall point in the season.

Short field goal? It was over 50 yards
