In terms of the NFL's greatest teams. Obviously, Brady's Patriots are going to be number one for at least three more years, but Mahomes and Reid have to be in the top five, right?

Ask me after the 3-peat.

Crazy thing is, this was probably the worst Chiefs team since Mahomes took over.

The WR room was a problem, but this team had a great defense

As far as dynasties go, I'd put them in the back half of the top five.

Right there somewhere with the 80's 49ers and 90's Cowboys but behind the Brady / Belichick Patriots and the 70's Steelers.

It'll be interesting to watch them over the next 5 years or so. Mahomes is getting even better, but it seems like the team around him is getting worse. I'd guess even the most diehard Chief's fans would tell you this year was the weakest of the teams they've had over the past five years, but they had more breaks go their way this year in the playoffs than they had over the past four years.

I am a diehard Chiefs fan, and I agree with this.

this is was 4/5 super bowls winning 3?

I hinesrly liked their chances against Tampa Bay if their whole OL didn’t go down

Are you okay? It kind of seemed like you were having a stroke at various points while you were typing this.

Ironically, I think the best Chiefs team during this run was their 2018 team who lost to New England in that epic overtime AFCCG.

Not to mention that was arguably the Patriots worst Super Bowl-winning team, and definitely the worst during the back half of the dynasty. The Saints were the best team that year by a longshot.

Five or six is about right.

The Patriots I'd almost split into two eras, but keeping them one limits them to one place on that list.

The mid-70s Steelers, the mid to late 80s 49ers, the early 60s Packers, and the postwar Browns would all be a pretty clear cut above this Chiefs team. Maybe they clip the Pack with another SB.

Since it’s taking place right now, I’d have to say the GOAT because I tend to forget everything that has happened before historically, and I want to feel like I want to witness and be a part history. So yeah..they are GOAT in my book. But make sure to ask me again next year.

If they 3-peat, obviously number 1.

Easily in the top 3-4 as it stands currently. Insane run.

To me, the Chiefs doing this in the free agency era makes it more impressive than teams doing it pre-free agency. Those 49ers, Steelers, Packers, and Browns teams could stay together as long as the front offices wanted to keep them together.

The chiefs would’ve been a fairly quick out without either Mahomes or Jones playing at their insanely high levels late in the year. It’s wild how much those two dudes elevated the play of the entire team and I’d argue that Jones was arguably more instrumental to them winning THIS year. That guy just took over games for their d while the offense was struggling for fairly decent spells.

I don’t care much for the chiefs at all but you can make an argument that it’s the second greatest dynasty in NFL history behind only the 2001-2018 Patriots.
They are only the second NFL dynasty to happen in the true FA era.
As previously mentioned every other dynasty could keep their teams together as long as they wanted.

To me, this is one of the problems of the modern conception of a dynasty-- this effect is pretty overblown.

I could as easily and cogently argue that before Professional Football became a reliable big paycheck that could incentivize people to play longer and much more comparatively lucrative careers, that teams would struggle to incentivize guys to stay in the game-- 60s stars made about 7.5 times the average salary, not 300x; this has changed the incentive structure at least as significantly as the salary cap era.

The defense took over in the playoffs. Only one team could really even move the ball on them
