Last I checked, Scheyer won a championship in his 4 years. I don't know why any Duke fan would trade that in.

I'm not trying to hate on him. But he's not a top 10 duke player of all time. That's laughable

Lance Thomas won a title too. Doesn't mean he's an all time Duke big man

I couldn't copy and paste it for some reason on mobile, so I typed it myself

I read it wrong.

Of course you'd take him 4 years over those guys. Doesn't mean he was better.

If you're talking top 10 careers he has an argument

Not just basing this off a title tho. Court leadership for 4 years was invaluable. His lack of turnovers as well. His shooting in the clutch was something not many people have. He is borderline top 10 that's why I asked. I think he is in top 10 but to say it's laughable is pretty dumb.

I gotcha, I read it that way too at first when I saw the 3. It's an impossible argument without more context. I don't know how you could compare him to a guy like Brand, the best Duke player of the last 20 years IMO but only played a year and a half and didn't get the title.

There are just guys with better accolades. From college, to winning championships, to all America teams, and to pro succes(which has to count for something )

Thing is, not Duke fan is trading that in or discrediting Scheyer for what he did at Duke.

t

pro success has nothign to do with it.

He has the accolades
he's an all american
won acc championships
won a national championship, was the only all american on that team.

How many other Duke players have done that?
You konw they've won 4 national championships
Hill, Laetner, Hurley are responsible for two
Jay WIll, Dunleavy, Battier, Boozer won the other
Scheyer was the only all american on the other

Can't count pro success. Honestly he was on his way to making a roster before he got popped in the eye. Being it would have been a role player, it is still a roster spot.

Dick groat
Mike gminski
Johnny dawkins
Art heyman
Christian laetner
Bobby hurley
Grant hill
Jeff mullins
Shane battier
Jay williams
JJ redick
Sheldon williams

Then there are others guys you can make a case for scheyer being better or worse:

Dunlevy
Boozer
Singler
Brand (if they win in 99, no doubt he's top 10 just with 2yrs)
Trajan
Nolan smith
Probably some others im leaving off.

You can't count pro success because he wasn't good enough to play in the NBA? I like how that works.

Was a role player pretty much for 3 years as well. Hard to include him in a top 10 list.

David McClure was a role player. Jon Scheyer was not a "Role player." Someone who starts for three years and finished in top 3 on team scoring for three different seasons is not a role player. Role players do not score 14.9 ppg as a junior.

pro success in general should have no bearing on how good a player was while he was at Duke.

Not even close to the top 10.

Duke has 13 retired numbers. All are better than him, and there is no way that he will even sniff getting his jersey retired.
