Five years ago, nobody gave two shits about Clemson. Now ESPN acts as if they're the greatest team since Bama. What spurred this, and their fantastic run?

They've been pretty good for a while now. Dabo has a great thing going there.

I'd say 2012 is when I first remember them being talked about frequently.

Dabo made some GREAT coordinator hires first in Chad Morris and then in Venables to get the program on an upswing.

Watson has pushed them over the top to championship contenders the last two years.

They had a good year in 2011, but what really boosted them was losing to WVU 70-33.

Without that loss, Steele might have been retained and they wouldn't have gotten Venables.

Having back-to-back QBs as good as Taj Boyd and Watson helps a lot, too.

They've had 6 straight seasons of 10 or more wins under Dabo.. They've only missed 4 bowl games since 1985.. Won it all in 1981.. Not exactly just one fantastic run that is causing this.

They've had really good talent for most of Dabos tenure. But they spent a lot of that time getting their arse handed by us and usually dropping another game or two (FSU for example)

Clemson won multiple ACC titles and went to some BCS games in that time span.

Clemson has continued to recruit at a high level, has overcome the FSU obstacle for now, and we and the rest of the ACC are a non factor.

The first year I started a dynasty with them on NCAA was when James Davis and CJ Spiller were in the backfield. I thought the Orange, purple and white uniforms were so damn clean on 360.

Whitehurst may have been the QB then. Him or Kyle Parker.
