Of course anything would have to be collectively bargained.

But, my idea is to have an official rating system for the players - with the best superstars being assigned the highest ratings and so forth on down. If they want it to be more transparent, let the players decide on, implement, and operate the ratings system. When it comes to free-agency, trades, etc each team will be allowed to have X number of players with a rating above N number at any given time -OR- establish a max rating for the teams (i.e. no team may have a total rating of over Y).

What are your ideas?

There's no solution needed.

The league is better with dominant teams.

So, do you think the players would agree to

quote:

Hard cap

if you gave them

No max contracts
in return?

There needs to be fewer teams

An independent board of advisors votes on a list of "superstars" in the league and each team is only allowed to have 1 on the roster. If a 2nd superstar "comes up" during a season, like they develop from not having been one, then the team must eject one from the roster at the end of the season.

It's stupid, it would ruin so much, but in a sport where so few players play and so few true superstars are available, this is the only way to do it, short of just lowering the salary cap to a tiny number OR reducing the amount of teams to ~12-15.

I'm not talking about what we could expect to pass through collective bargaining. Just that those two changes would immediately bring about parity

Ideally, yes. But that cat is out of the bag.

I agree. Teams like Charlette, New Orleans, Clippers, even Cleveland should be removed from th e NBA.

The bottom 10 teams in the NBA should have a draft every year where they are allowed to poach a player from the top 10 teams.

Each top team can make 2 players off limits. Only 1 player from each team can be taken. Contracts are transferred.

seriously though, there will never be a cure to create parity- the game of basketball is too impacted by high level elite players

Parity in the NBA is largely a myth.

27 of the last 30 NBA championships have been won by 7 teams.

I may have worded it poorly, but that's what I meant. The game of basketball does not lend itself to parity
