What's the best argument against just using the BCS rankings to choose final 4?

Is it some bullshite about making sure all conferences are represented? Or about the regular season "mattering"? I hear that argument in various contexts.

I just want to punch Danny Kannell right in the face. I needed to share that and wasn't sure where to do it

Idk but that's what I thought they would've done/should've done when they started this playoff. Much better than this committee bullshite

Instead of using sportswriters who follow and report on games, coaches, and computers who calculate numbers and stats without emotion or bias, we need to have a few people with political, athletic, or personal connections decide who plays for the NC.

Problem solved, controversy over.

The Coaches' poll and Harris poll are worse than the committee. That's the argument if I'm to make it.

That said, I believe the combination of those two polls and computers is inherently better than this committee.

I guess I just don't ever recall a lot of argument about the BCS 1-4. Maybe the 1-2, but not the whole top 4.

The committee will start more controversy than the BCS ever could.

The committee is gonna be a nightmare.

Probably this, but the fact remains not all conferences deserve to be there every year. It would have been more practical to use the BCS formula (with strength factor included, didn't they remove that?) to determine a top 4...but hey, what do we as fans know amirite?

What we have now is a poll, more or less. It was the polls who put Alabama at #2. The computers had them at #3.

At least the computers threw out margin of victory. The eye test is a mirage when you see teams averaging 60 pts a game vs crap defenses.

Use the BCS computers to pick the top 4 conference champions.

Problem solved.

Just realize that the regular season conference play was a playoff/tournament to get to the National Playoff. That way you shrink the pool of teams and eliminate more of the eye test. Win your conference as an objective accomplishment.

because the BCS format was used to determine 1 and 2 and became obsolete. Now I think many would like to go back to some kind of BCS format but it would take out the eye test.

3 has a much better argument than 5. If you're 5 chances are very low that you're the best. If you're 3 you might have gotten shafted like Auburn in 2004.

Don't they remove outliers?
