Gasol and Aldridge are terrible defensively. And as unathletic as it gets. Spurs so bad last year that Bill Simmons now says that Steven Adams is the top center in the NBA because of how good he looked and how bad he made the Spurs frontcourt look. Think about that.

Aren't you all big on those advanced stats? Gasol was top 10 for centers last year in defensive +/-.

Who has a better front court in the west than the Spurs?

That more than anything is why i believe the trade rumors. NOt because LMA is unhappy

Gasol and LMA are essentially the same player on defense, but gasol rebounds much better

Duncan was able to cover up LMA's liabilities when he was there but without him there if you can get the ball down load it's pretty much auto 2.

There was a game last year against philly where Oakfur flat out was abusing LMA in the first half and kept them in the game. Oakfur not Cousins or Howard or Lebron or Jordan or Dirk, a rookie. Then they started doubling him in the 2nd half and shut him down but still.

you cant put them in the same line up at the same time against playoff teams with low post depth and win. at least i dont' think so.

Gasol is going to get rebounds and going to score and do so more efficiently than LMA who relies on that J too much to be a power forward. If the sizers didn't have 76 centers on their team a trade for Noel would be perfect

I mostly use eye test. Then I use the advanced stuff as backup for explaining to others what I'm seeing.

GSW green and Durant
LAC Blake and Jordan
Maybe Utah favors and gobert

The true weakness of the Spurs is the backcourt though. Parker and green and ginobili and mills is bordering on embarrassing.

If Green were on the Rockets he'd immediately become their best perimeter defender and 3pt shooter.

no he would not

Belevery is a better preimiter defender

Gordon, Hardin and Anderson are better 3 point shooters by a wide margin

and i hate the rockets

Gordon has had one really good year from three. Anderson is pretty good but he hasn't been the same since injury. Harden is a good shooter, better flopper.

Gordon becomes a rocket and suddenly he's Klay Thompson from 3

not nearly to the same degree, team was a postiive +/- with him on the court in one game v GSW. Meanwhile v SAS he was +57 in the last 4 wins. He didn't have anywhere close to the impact v GS.

Green had a bad year last year shooting. Top 10 perimeter defender though. That's why he is still starting.

No worries though. Kawhi is best perimeter defender in the league and elite 3 point shooter as well.

Actually he was pretty much Klay thompson when he with Pellies, now imagine how much better he will be will the league's premier playmaker getting him open looks:

Last 2 years:

Gordon - .417%
Thompson - .431

So for every 100 shots they take Klay makes 1.5 more. So basically one more per week.

Unless the advanced stat benefits you.

If I reference advanced stats it's because it backs up what I see with my eyes. Your eye test isn't as good as my eye test so I use the advanced stats to help to show you what my eyes tell me.

Fox sports says that LMA had a top 10 defensive rating last year. Your 'eye test' says that LMA is a terrible defender. So which should we believe?

defensive rating is a team stat, there's no way you didn't know that.

Take away his one season above 40% (the season I referenced in my post mind you) and he's not a knock down three pointer. He makes some and he misses some. He's gotten better with age but the rest of his game has declined because of well, injuries.
