i feel like they are in a really weird place. so much has been made about him being hell bent on coming to the lakers next summer that it has to have lowered the actual trade value that paul george has. no organization wants a howard (when he was with the lakers) situation and the pacers dont want an aldridge or durant situation and let him walk for nothing

what would you do? would you try to get the best offer you could get right now and trade him on draft night? or would you try to put the best team together for next year, hope he makes an all nba team, and hope that the sheer amount of money that you can give him with a super max deal will convince him to stay?

I keep saying this but we never heard this until a few months ago when it became advantageous for him and his agents.

If the Pacers can get a real trade offer they should deal him. If teams are low balling them then they should gamble on him making an all NBA team next year, would be tough for him to walk away from the extra $50 million.

They should have taken the 4 1st round picks that the Hawks were offering.

Let's look at a deal done last summer so we can get a frame of reference here.

Serge Ibaka trade to Orlando was for Victor Oladipo, Ersan Ilyasova, and baby Sabonis (11th pick, rookie). He had one more year on the deal, just like George (I think there's 99.9% chance he opts out after next season to get a new max deal). They are almost the same age, and George is definitely the better player. I would think the Pacers could get the same caliber of package back, if not more. This would be awfully attractive to me as Pacers GM given I will likely be at best 4th in the conference for the next 3 years or so behind Cleveland, Washington, and Boston. I trade George, likely let Teague walk depending on price, and build around Myles Turner and the assets acquired in the Paul George deal.

This is assuming we are almost sure he's ditching for LA. If there's even a 25-30% chance he stays I'd consider rolling the dice and keeping him.

So hypothetically let's say they were trading him to the Lakers. What would we really have to give up for him?

Obviously we have to give up at least one of Russell, Ingram, Ball

I don't think it makes sense for the Lakers to trade for him, honestly. Y'all are too far away from contending to give up assets for a guy you may be able to sign in free agency. Any Paul George trade would be to a fringe contender that thinks they can resign him if they have a good year.

Lakers should be figuring out ways to unload the awful Mozgov and Deng contracts...combined, that's a max salary they can offer someone in free agency.

It would be hilarious. I imagine that's probably the last guy we would give though.

it doesnnt make sense unless the pacers are willing to take a trade that doesnt have the #2, russell, or ingram

but thats not going to happen

Not my question. I want to know what the trade would look like. Other moves can be made in addition to George.

a trade that would land him would be #2, clarkson, and then randle/ingram/russell

Not enough moves to compete this year, but I'll humor you anyway.

Russell, Nance, Clarkson, and Houston's 2017 1st rounder is probably the least you're giving up
