What NHL team should I be a fan of?

Since getting the NHL network on Direct TV I started watching Hockey after work because nothing else is on. Well I am hooked and love it. So I am calling on any hockey fans of the MSB to convince me what team to root for. Being from Louisiana I really hold no allegiances. I am a Cardinals baseball fan so I am leaning towards the Blues just to double down on the St. Louis teams but I am open to suggestions.

I would say the Kings because they are probable the best team in the NHL going forward but they are 0-3 right now and kind of look like crap.

While living in Michigan for 10 years i was about an hour from Detroit. Well i became an Avalanche fan just in spite of the Detroit fans around. It was back when they were having all of those wicked arse fights.
But i dont follow hockey at ALL anymore but im pretty sure the Avalanche suck a big one now

San Jose Sharks. They continually underachieve come playoff time, but when we finally get the cup, it will be glorious

Interesting. I do like bubble teams that make it over the hump. Reminds me of the Saints first few seasons after getting Brees.

If you're already a Cards fan, you should root for the Blues. Here's the case:
1) They are really good, so you can watch compelling hockey.
2) They've never won a Cup, so you can get in now before the bandwagon fills up. This is the perfect time to get in.
3) Vladamir Tarasenko. Buy his jersey. Build a shrine. He has now played precisely 4 NHL games, and he is already a star.
4) The team is really deep and fun to watch. Real blue collar vibe and a commitment to total hockey.
5) Kevin Shattenkirk's twitter handle is shattdeuces. (He wears #22). He's also awesome.
6) Not one, but two great goalies. Elliot and Halak take turns just killing your will to live. Great goalies.
7) Sweet unis. Great mascot.
8) You can pretend you liked them when Al MacInnis played there. Just fake it. Just rave about his slap shot and make jokes about his Samson-like powers stemming from his long hair. You'll fit in.
9) Southern team. A southern team that's NOT from Florida and does not and has never employed Alexander Semin. It's either this or the Stars.
10) Seriously. They are fun to watch. You're already in on another St. Louis team. You should just move there.

The Caps are the only team in hockey without a point. Watching them right now makes me wish the lockout hadn't stopped. I couldn't in good conscience make a pitch for them. They are playing awful f'n hockey right now.
Oh, and they will gut you. So will the Blues, BTW. But the Caps and the Flames have each taken 10 years off my life from playoff choke jobs.
