He'd still be an effective coach at any level because of what he brings to the table. He has a large fan base because he does a great job (better then most coaches) of teaching the game and being able to relate the difficult concepts and nuances of the NFL to even the casual fan. I like Gruden, I'd be fine with my team hiring him. I don't expect him to be a beliechiek or a Walsh

Also. That 3:14 am wake up call

He is Brian Billik with a better PR agent.

Look at their NFL records which almost identical and ask yourself when is the last time anyone wanted or would have been excited to hire Billick.

You act like Tony Dungy is some great coach or GM.

He had a better record at Tampa Bay than Gruden did. 54-42 vs. 57-55. The difference is...Dungy built the team that Gruden won the Super Bowl with the very next year. After that '02 season, Gruden was below .500 at Tampa until he was fired.

Dungy went on to win 76% of his games at Indy. Sure...it was with Peyton Manning. But if any old fool could win with Peyton, how come Jim Mora couldn't?

And he also coached the Colts to two seasons of 10 losses or more. And that was with a healthy Peyton Manning. They went 6-10 in 2001, the year Mora was fired. They hired Dungy and the Colts didn't have a season under 10 wins for his entire tenure there.

The point is he still won there, I'm not ignoring those losing seasons but saying he couldn't win is kind of disingenuous from my standpoint at least

If going 32-32 is considered winning in your book then yes, he won there. Even if he had gone 1-63 he still would have technically won there.

Meh, he wasn't the GM. Also, the core of that team (Sapp, Brooks, Lynch, nickerson) were already there. Quit giving him all the credit, it's nonsense.

You get my point, he achieved a couple of winning seasons there. Now if we're comparing him to Dungy, Mora got no chance especially with the losing seasons he had.

Mike DuBose had a pair of winning seasons at Alabama, too. I wouldn't describe him as a winner at Alabama though, despite winning the SEC in his third season.

Mora had two winning seasons. He also had two losing seasons. He was fired after that last losing season and was replaced with a winner.

We can argue semantics all day, but Mora is not remembered by Colts fans as a winner. The only reason why anyone remembers his name is because of his infamous "Playoffs?!" rant in his last season.
