When the Packs snapped the ball on that false start penalty, they snapped it with 24 seconds left. For some reason, they had the play clock at 20 seconds. There should have been 14 seconds left after the run off, not 10 seconds

I think everyone screwed that one up

I think Flynn went into a mental twist and forgot that the clock was starting with only 10 seconds. You could hear the crowd getting anxious and the ref walking towards him while he's standing there.

He locked up.

I think you're absolutely right. Dude just froze.

Why wasn't he being told to spike the ball? Would have had two plays most likely

It was 2nd down.

They were ready to snap the ball and the head ref decides to make another ref stand over the ball instead of getting out of the way and starting the clock. That ref is still on the ball when the head ref starts the clock. Then they have to be set for a full second. It was shite all around.

Flynn had terrible time management at the end in that game he started for Green Bay and played great against New England a while back.

The ref clearly said the clock would start running again on his signal, I guess he wasn't paying attention

Also why the frick were they going to run the ball when they got that false start penalty?

It was second down because the penalty erased the run

I don't believe these theories that he didn't know the clock was running. They had just ran a running play, the ref mentioned the 10 second run off, and then he signaled the clock to run after the ball was spotted.

The most egregious thing was a combination of not spiking it/missing wide open Nelson.

It was 2nd down with about 25 seconds left when they snapped the ball. They would have had plenty of time to get two more plays off.

Even after running the ball with no TO?

Doubtful. You pass twice and of you don't get in then on 4th you can run since time wouldn't be a factor then.

Looked like the ref even walked up to him with about 6 seconds left and told him again. I dont think he could believe that flynn was just standing there.

That Flynn's MO.

Y'all (LSU fans) don't remember the 2007 Auburn game where he threw the game winner to D. Byrd with like 2 seconds left? We were down by only one point with 33 seconds on the clock and needed another few yards to make it easy for Colt David. Flynn drained the clock down to 8 seconds before receiving the snap and throwing a TD to Byrd. It all worked out in the end, but holy shite it was fricking close.

This. Even though it was Flynn's fault, people acted like "the mad hatter" opted for a last second td pass instead of the easy gw field goal.

That was an SEC game through and through. Bad clock management by both teams and awful officiating.
