If you don't think Jeter is a special player then you're an idiot.

at the least, you probability shouldn't give many sports opinions if you think that.

Why do you say that? Jeter absolutely has a special career. Inner circle hall of Famer? No, but he is one of the upper tier shortstops of all-time.

Tiger1242, my first comment was not directed at you. My bad.

Sorry, rereading my post I see how it would be interpreted that way.

I was piggybacking and adding to his comment.

He's 6th all time in hits, of course he's a special player.

It made it seem like you agreed with the guy who said he is not special. Maybe I misread.

Best player on best team. Toughest franchise and city to play in. Toughest and most important position on the field (20 years). Five world championships and seven world series appearances in the toughest league, toughest division (8 world championships in 19 years). Played less than 10 games in his career that the Yankees were eliminated from playoff contention - less than 10 pressure less games. All time hits leader on the club with the most famous players in MLB, or all sports.

Nothing special, just famous.

Now batting for the New York Yankees, number 2 Derek Jeter, number 2.

I guess I'd wonder why he hasn't shown anything approaching average power as shitty defensive short stop.

You could argue Clemens, Rivera, Mussina, and Sabathia were all better than him when they played with him.

Just think what could have been if above Yanks had let you pick the SS. 27 out of 20 championships is my humble guess.

Jeter was never thrown out of a game

Jeter had one career grand slam

Played the toughest position in the toughest market for 20 yrs and did it with grace and style

Amazing when you think about it

Kurkjian said today that jeter had no plus plus skill but did everything at a plus level. That easily makes him one of the greatest of his generation and put him in the HOF without all of the other stuff he and the Yankees did

None of the off the field shite that takes over sports today. Kind of refreshing.

Key here is he was single, so he couldn't cheat on his wife (looking at you Tiger). Dude probably banged half of New York City, but it was all consensual and he didn't have any kids that I'm aware of
