They are bad - really bad.
SMU is dismantling the Tech team right now.

No talent whatsoever.
Horrendous coaching / play calling

This was a program that could go toe to toe with most teams outside the top 15 - now, they may be a bottom 5 D1 program.

If I understood the story correctly, a few years ago, Tech was undefeated - a couple of the best players smoke some weed - suspended - Skip realized he had no administrative support and gave up.

Separating from the Cajuns is smart.

This has been Tech athletics since the early 90’s. Jim Oakes set the standard to piss in the wind and Tech sports was never the same. He’s the reason Mulkey went to Baylor instead of coming back to Tech.

They are still sitting out waiting for that better bowl bid that’s not beneath them.

College football $$$$ happened. This is a prime example of a program getting absolutely gutted due to NIL pouring onto the scene. The NCAA abandoned small schools like Tech in the name of money and it is disgusting.

Gone are the days of small schools being able to compete and knock off big schools every once in a while. Yes, SMU poured a ton of money into the program (compared to tech) and it shows.

Only way to save anything from our athletic program (not just football) is a complete blow up and rebuild. Placing the right people and resources in place to succeed.

Problem is we don’t and really never have had the right people or resources in place lol. We are fricked. No way in todays landscape, short of a miracle, Tech will be competitive athletically. I’ve just accepted it. Don’t get me wrong I love my school, but as far as athletics go big time apathy has set in.
