They are my favorite college baseball team from the state of California, so, I'm a bit sad about this.

I don’t want to see college baseball consolidate power like college football. Sports are more entertaining when talent and great teams are spread around. Stanford still produces some solid teams, but I remember when CSF, Long Beach, Pepperdine, USC were also wrecking shite.

It’s been said that Cal State Fullerton (and some other west coast schools, like ASU) have fallen behind in the player dev department as well.

They’ve been left behind in the college baseball arms race.

Big Ten tv money should be a boost for USC, UCLA, and Oregon. If the Big Ten was smart they would have their West Coast teams host all the other teams during the season. No reason to have Ohio State and Michigan State host USC in March. Make it biased toward the West Coast for the benefit of the entire conference.

SoCal use to be basically represented in the Little League World Series every year. Now its Hawaii.

SoCal was the hotbed of youth development kinda in the country and the kids stayed local for College.

Then Soccer Moms happened. You have a million soccer fields in the LA County Area.... And the ones that were produced as great baseball talent are going to programs that care deeply about baseball, which isn't California schools anymore.

Of course it is, but people don’t have to like it. In fact, I absolutely hate it.

Over the past 20 seasons, we have seen Rice, CSF, Fresno State and Coastal Carolina all win the College World Series. That’s part of what has made college baseball unique with an exciting post season.

Not sure we’re going to get to enjoy runs from smaller programs like that going forward with the current arms race and $$ that can be thrown around by the P4 programs.

Oklahoma St and Wichita State used to be big dogs in the baseball game.

Matt Ford of Bossier played for OSU, drafted by Toronto. Hardest throwing HS player I had ever seen.
