What are some of the best players that never took advantage of their potential?

Like in ESPN's 30 for 30, The Best That Never Was about Marcus Dupree, he seemed to have so much talent and a successful career in front of him, but mental issues destroyed his career. What are some other players (from any sport) that could have done amazing, but failed, or even just simply pursued another sport.

Me. I decided not to play football in college, proceeded to dislocate my knee at a house party. People say I could've been the next Walter Payton

Andrew Bynum, dude was averaging like 18 points, 14 rebounds and 3 blocks his last year with the Lakers, but he didn't take the game serious, and he didn't take care of his body.

Imagine, he was putting up those stats with out even trying. If Kobe would have rubbed off on him he could've been on his way to being another Lakers legend.

That one game where he finally got pissed against Denver and damn near had a 20&20 game and had a triple double with points, rebounds, and blocks.

The main thing that derailed Dupree was a knee injury. Don't know if was an ACL or MCL but in either case knee reconstructive surgery wasn't back then what it is today.

Well that and the crooked reverend stealing all of his money.

Rasheed Wallace.

I know it sounds crazy because he had a long career. I read some article though that argued he could've been the best player in the league during his prime, but he never put the work in.
