do you know of any players that make $15 that have never even made an all star team?

Chandler Parsons and Gordon Hayward both signed $15 million/ year deals last year.

just to be clear, you think 29 yr old role player is worth $15mil?

I mean, i get you piggy back on the article, 3 & D blah blah blah, but really?

you think Wes Matthews is as good as has been on a team such as say, Philly or Orlando?

Prior to the injury I'd give him 15 mil a year and not think twice about it.

An achilles tear is quite concerning though.

The cap is going up and Mathews is arguably a top three defensive player (I'm not looking at statistics, strictly what I've seen him do) and to add to that, he hits threes at a good rate. IMO, the Grizzlies are a Mathews away from coming out of the West.

25 and 26, respectively.

rockets slow played Parsons and got caught with their thumb in their arse. He would have signed for less had they no tried to build a super team.

Hayward is younger, multi talented 6-7 wing player

I don't think he's worth that. But I sure as hell think the market would demand it. What article am I piggy backing on? I didn't read shite.

The dude shoots almost 40% from three and was Top 5 in makes before the injury (might have even been Top 3). He is also a lock down defender. Start listing the best shooting guards in the league.

1. James Harden
2. Klay Thompson
3. Jimmy Butler

It starts getting VERY thin outside the Top 3.

Gordon Hayward signed a 4 year $62 mil deal. Ricky Rubio makes an avg of $13.7 and Eric Gordon at $14.5

Not saying he should get 15 a year, just saying that it's not some crazy number for him and his agent to throw around

I've never seen Lester Earl back off an opinion on this board. He will however change up the question.

In reality him and his agent are prob expecting around 12 a year, so they're just starting at $15 as a number to throw around

Rubio is obv over paid, but he is still 24.

Eric Gordon got his deal at 24 too. Gordon averaged 22PPG as a 22 year old with the Clippers.

again, Wes Matthews will be 29 this season. Let's pretend he really is that talented, he missed his window to cash in big

Pretty much all of this.

Mathews has made himself into a very good player that could fit onto just about any team. Funny Lester is saying if he played in Orlando or some shite nobody knew lamarcus prior to Roy going down. Players get better. Funny how it works. Before Lopez came to Portland , it was already decided Lamarcus wouldn't become a 20/10 guy. Mathews is a valuable, valuable player.

Would I pay him 15 a year right now? No I wouldn't. But we see teams each and every year overpay for players so I don't think it's impossible

I don't get the age argument. The best player in the world is 30. Players are playing later into their careers then ever. Shooting is one of those things that translates well in to later stages of a players career.

He'd be 32 by the end of the supposive deal they are chasing. That's not too old.

im not saying there arent bad contracts in the league.

but a guy like Matthews, like lance stephenson with the Pacers, perfect fits for the teams they thrived with.

get both of them on their own, and they aren't quite the same player. Matthews is a good shooter, but has trouble creating his own shot. Stephenson was overwhelmed trying to be the top dog in Charlotte.

Plus this is all hypothetical because we are talking about if he didn't get hurt, so there is basically zero chance of him being wrong

I don't get how those guys are comparable. Matthews could thrive in basically any situation and is reportedly a good teammate. Lance isn't a good shooter and is a head case.
