.

Yeah that's the only problem I have with that range.

I think he meant no where to chip and retrieve balls to go hit on the range.

Those would have to get mowed every other day, or 3rd day it seems.

Look at Caddyshack on Siegen. How that place stays open is beyond me.

I guess the location does them a huge favor, and the liquor license. But it's a grade A dump, and people still throw money at it.

Vegas Pro used to work there. I think they use they've been using the same balls since my brother was in college back in the early 2000s

Driving ranges are a cash cow if you get a good location and own the land because there is 0 overhead.

Top Golf has a huge startup cost, but they're raking in money

Assuming $10,000 in start-up costs, a driving range needs about 10 buckets a day at $5/bucket to recoup expenses in year 1.

is the range lit? are you doing all the mowing? is there fertilizer costs? will you be closed on days that it rains?

I would assume BR isn't lighting his range. Fertilizer and sod for 30 hitting stations isn't exactly expensive and he mentioned the guy in Laffy cuts his own grass.

That 10 buckets a day was under the assumption of 200 days of operation to take into account rain and maintenance.

OK...Just got all the specs for one acre of hitting area (BC's range)
$190 for one pallet of 419 fairway Bermuda grass (covers 450 sq. ft.)

1 acre = 43560 sq. ft. or 97 Pallets!

97 pallets * $190 = $18,430 in grass alone.(installed)

..............
You will probably need a building to house the mower/s and the shop. you can tack on at least another $10,000 for that.

..............
Golf balls...you will probably need at least 1,000 dozen balls to get up and going $4.50 per dozen =$4,500

..............
do you want inventory? hats, balls, select clubs, you can start with a mere $5,000 and just keep putting all profit away and recycle the original money.

18430+10000+4500+5000=$37,930
not factoring in the cost of a mower, if you want lights (installation and energy cost), TV and service in the shop, alcohol and licenses, zoning fees for alcohol, and miscellaneous!

probably around $50,000 in start up costs with all of the above!

BC has a massive hitting area. This is meant for some hackers to hit the range for 30 min on their way home from work. Think slightly above CaddyShack on siegen quality.

No clubhouse. Just a covered spot for the range machine and maybe a vending machine.

I just found 14,000 balls on CL for $2800

The place in Lafy has a machine that takes cash/credit cards, a parking lot, a shed for the gas cart and tractor, and a couple of soda vending machines.

He didn't sod it. He converted it from a rice farm.
