72 at TPC is damned good. I'm guessing the greens were faster than when I played a couple of weeks ago.

Nope. They were very slow and extremely grainy... In fact they were the slowest that i have ever seen out there. I am sure they will start getting the grain out and speeding them up pretty soon.

Played Grand Bear this weekend. Shot 40-37 from the tips. Was pleased since I haven't been playing at all. The course is in perfect condition. Greens running really fast and true.

Not trying to be a dick here, but I see posts like this a lot in the golf threads. How in the frick can you "not really be playing at all" and just walk onto a course and shoot 77 "from the tips"? It just seems like complete bullshite to me. Did you play golf on a college team? Former professional?

Breaking 80 takes a lot of hard work and pretty regular play. I work on my game with an instructor once a month, and practice/play 3-4 times a week. I have shot 80 a few times but haven't broken it yet. I typically shoot in the 83-85 range.

I get that some rounds you have great luck, and natural athletic ability is a factor as well, but you don't just roll out of bed from not playing golf that much and fire a 77 from the back tees. Am I the only one that feels this way?

I won't lie, that post had me rolling me eyes over here too.

I'm not mad about it, but to not be playing and have 5 bad shots is a little bit of a stretch. Even for the interweb.

I posted some stats from a round a week or two ago and got called out cuz somebody didn't think I could hit those #'s and still shoot the 96 I ended up with. If I was gonna lie about it I definitely wouldn't have gone with a 96. The <80 rounds are a little questionable sometimes but oh well. I enjoy talking about my struggles and getting tips and pointers on how I can improve. And hearing y'alls ridiculous stories
Since that 96 round I put in some serious practice time on the practice greens and brought my total putts down from 50+ to 36 both my last 2 rounds. But the more time spent on the greens the less spent on my swing and took a significant drop in the accuracy I worked on the last few weeks

Sometime around 1 tomorrow. SM or Sherwood would be best. I'm not opposed to Beaver but I probably couldn't get there until 130.

I can do Beaver tomorrow at 1:30. That'd be cool. Gonna hit 9 at SM today (an old rain check) and just chill 'til tomorrow.

Isn't it the Valero Open this week? Everyone's(except mine) favorite course to hate: TPC San Antonio.

Haha I'm sure it does sound like BS. It pisses my dad off to no end. I'm 27 and have been playing since I was 13. I played high school golf and started for 3.5 years. Never won state but won regionals and came in top 10 in the state tourney twice. I was a 4 in high school and actually got down to a 2 in college but I only get to play once every 2 months on average now. I'm sure anyone that has played for a while and had a low handicap at one time can go out and shoot low 70s on a good day and low 80s on a bad day. I find I just don't have those really low days any more because some aspect of my game is always off
