But he's right. If you don't watch or like the game, why do you give a frick about a rule change and then come here and show your ignorance then get upset when you get called out and act like a bitch?

It's a fair question. Why do you care about the rule? Why do you think it's a joke?

They made a rule saying you can't stand in front of the plate to block a runner. Lol.

That's absolutely ridiculous and shows the progression of sports becoming pussified.

An experimental rule, 7.13, intended to increase player safety by eliminating "egregious" collisions at home plate was jointly announced by Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association on Monday.

The timing allows for managers, coaches, players and umpires to use the entire Grapefruit and Cactus League schedules to acclimate themselves to the rule. The intention to enact regulations was adopted at the Winter Meetings last December; now the exact wording has been agreed upon. The highlights:
• A runner may not run out of a direct line to the plate in order to initiate contact with the catcher, or any player, covering the plate. If he does, the umpire can call him out even if the player taking the throw loses possession of the ball.
• The catcher may not block the pathway of a runner attempting to score unless he has possession of the ball. If the catcher blocks the runner before he has the ball, the umpire may call the runner safe.
• All calls will be based on the umpire's judgment. The umpire will consider such factors as whether the runner made an effort to touch the plate and whether he lowered his shoulder or used his hands, elbows or arms when approaching the catcher.
• Runners are not required to slide, and catchers in possession of the ball are allowed to block the plate. However, runners who do slide and catchers who provide the runner with a lane will never be found in violation of the rule.
• The expanded instant replay rules, which also go into effect this season, will be available to review potential violations of Rule 7.13.

I read that. I'm just so ignorant. It's over my head. And the announcers basically said "you can't block a runner coming home." So I can't go off of that, because you said so. Even though they are supposed to be knowledgeable experts.

Can you put it in simpleton terms for me? You know, help us ignorant folk better understand it.

You can't block the plate unless you have the ball.

The runner can't go for the head or initiate contact on the catcher unless the catcher (or anyone else covering home)blocks the plate.

Basically, you can't set up in front of the plate like in the past waiting for the ball. You must have the ball and then block.

It's done to let the catchers not seem like pussies when they don't want to stand in and take unnecessary shots when they wouldn't have been able to make a play anyway. It's a dangerous and vulnerable position to be in to be looking away from a 230 lbs. man bearing down on you trying to catch a ball.

You seem angry.

I didn't mean to hurt your ego, but you really put yourself out there with this one and showed your arse.

I hope you get over it. Tomorrow is another day.

I seem angry? Do you just have a list if message board retorts you use regularly?? "You seem angry"

Yea I'm super angry. I'm furious over a rule for a sport that I don't really care about or watch.

Doesn't mean they didn't make a pussy rule.

The rule was made to eliminate unnecessary hits at the plate.

If the catcher doesn't have the ball, there is no reason to hit him. Players can't block the base anywhere else without the ball, home shouldn't be any different.

If they made a rule forcing players to slide and not allowing blocking, I'd agree with you. But that's not what they did.

And you really do seem upset about a game you don't care much about. It's really gonna be ok.

That's why I came here. I knew I could count on the experts. And this rule is still pussified.

It's ok though. It's happening with every sport, not just America's sport. Lol
