They blew any chance of making the playoffs when they shot themselves in the foot against the Bears. The Browns loss sealed the deal.

Their early season schedule has been a joke. If they were half decent, they should be 5-1 or at least 4-2 after tonight.

They should keep AP. They make a ton of revenue off him. Yeah, he is a lot against the cap, but he keeps them on the radar.

How many future first rounders is AP worth?

I wouldn't even give up one. As the OP stater RB's wear out quick.

But what does this really mean. What does being on the radar have to do with getting a few players for AP???? They re from Minnesota. Staying on the radar will happen when they stay relevant by WINNING a SB.

Nobody is giving two first rounders for a 28 year old running back with major injury history.

It's the NFL, it's not like there's recruiting. If they could find someone to give them really good compensation, by all means they should go for it. By the time they're ready to make a serious run, Peterson will be very much on the downside of his career. Getting future high picks would better suit them in the long run, which is more important than "being on the radar" for another 3 years with their 6-8 win seasons.

I would only trade one first and one second for AP at this age and the picks would be in different years.

he has a lot of tread on those tires.

If Freeman pans out they might have a shot at being a borderline playoff team next year. That said, they aren't going to a Super Bowl anytime soon. Certainly not during Peterson's remaining prime. Not that I think they'd do anything meaningful with the draft picks.

If you were getting a 22 year old Peterson it would be a different story. Most running backs hit the wall at 30.

This is a fact. I love AP but its a different game now and RB'S just can't take a 20-25 carry a game anymore.

This thread proves so few people understand what the NFL is all about. You people are talking about when or if they will be relevant or compete for SBs. The owner still needs butts in the seats whether they compete for relevancy or not. Making money is the goal, and they needs someone who puts butts in the seats and get people to watch on TV.

Thank you. Despite his mega contract, AP brings in serious dough for the Vikings. In fact, I am wearing his jersey right now.

I understand the NFL plenty. Whats more important??? Winning a SB or People in the seats?? The PATS are a contending team every year and people show up EVERY HOME game. Same with the Saints or Cowboys. Its not all about winning, its putting a team on the field that people will think is a contender. And one superstar player[esp an RB] Is Not gonna put people in the seats. At the same time I am not much of an NFL fan [anymore]. I would NOT go to a game even if I had free tickets.

Bro, his Kia probably could not make it to the Dome. Plus, what if his daughter ran away while he was at the game?
