He just started the job with the NBA Retired Players and given Fletcher's penchant for being wrong I'm highly skeptical.

ETA: How pissed would this make all the coaches who had to scramble for new jobs because they dropped down?

UNO would be much better off without athletics... remember real, live, actual students have to pay for it

They had about 5 or 6 kids on scholarship last year coupled with about 5 home games, they were bound for one of the worst seasons ever.

Big waste of money. An urban school like UNO is throwing money away with division I. Division II is the best thing for UNO.

i leave that campus in the afternoon, head back to metairie or chalmette, and it's gonna take a lot more than sun belt or southland hoops or baseball to get me to come back at night

UNO is pretty dumb with how they handle their financial business.

It's crazy how things have turned out for UNO. Attendance has always been shite, but they've had some competetive teams in the Sun Belt. When I started in the fall of '07 Bo Mcalleb was on the basketball team and the baseball team was pretty good as well. Now it's just pathetic...

They were planning on going D3. That has a lot to do with it. Havent been giving many scholarships in basketball or baseball the last couple years.

I'm quite aware of the reason why, mainly because I still attend the school, but I was just stating how quickly of a downfall the program as a whole has been in the last few years.

It was to be expected when they lost all their scholarship athletes.
