Most of those suns teams were overrated. They didn't have the defense to win in the playoffs.

Plus It incredible how overrated dantoni is

2005: Johnson injury
2006: Amare injury
2007: ridiculous suspensions in critical game

That and the poor roster moves during those years cost the Suns a title.

kige the sonics teams with gary payton, a young shawn kemp, detlef etc. in the 90s. A couple inexplicably early exits for them almost overshadowed them making it to the NBA finals against the Jordan Bulls once.

The Pat Riley/Patrick Ewing Knicks teams that took Jordan's Bulls to seven games in 92, to six games in 93, and lost to the Rockets in the NBA finals has also been largely forgotten by people too young to have seen those games.

That team swept the Grizz in the first round. Amare made Pau's arse quit

At what point do you stop making excuses and just look at the Suns for what they were? They were a good team that many thought had the talent to win it all. But they could never get over the hump in the playoffs (overrated) mostly in my opinion due to poor coaching.

excuses and reasons aren't the same thing.

Missing key players due to injury is not an excuse, unless you think the Bulls/Thunder this year should stop making excuses.

Possibly the most glorified team that didn't win one.

I'm pouring one out for the 2005-2009 Suns

So many years of pure heartbreak in the playoffs during my highschool/college years. I can't believe we never even made it to the finals in those years. But the one year we did make it to the finals (92-93), when I was just 5-6 years old, we were pretty stacked as well. Just unfortunate enough to run into MJ and co. in the finals.

except there was a fricking 30 for 30 about those two teams. There are better teams from the 90s alone that are ignored compared to those two.

haha. He did the pregame pump-up announcing at the arena during the Steve Nash era. I'm not sure if he does it anymore. I talked to my mom today and she said they've been doing a lot of tribute articles to the 92-93 team in the PHX newspapers over the past few weeks. I guess that's all we have to hold on to as Suns fan - A season that came oh-so-close but still was a let down at the end.
