Ragin' Cajuns Set 2018 Game At Alabama
The Ragin’ Cajuns will continue to pile on what’s becoming a hearty dose of SEC schools over the next few years.
UL Athletic Director Scott Farmer announced on “Bird’s Eye View” on ESPN 1420-AM that the Cajuns will play Alabama in 2018. The trip to Tuscaloosa, Alabama will pay Louisiana a reported $1.25 million.
The September 29, 2018 is the latest in a number of recent announcements of games against SEC teams. The Ragin’ Cajuns head to Georgia later this season and travel to Texas A&M and Ole Miss next year.
The university recently announced a “home-and-Dome” with Mississippi State. The Ragin’ Cajuns will play in Starkville in 2018 then “host” the Bulldogs in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans to start the 2019 season.
The Ragin’ Cajuns and Crimson Tide will meet for 9th time in the two schools’ history. They last met in 1990 with Alabama winning 25-6. That game was played at Cajun Field.
Louisiana is 0-39 all-time against Southeastern Conference schools.

I was at the Bama game in 1990, sitting on the grass in the endzone of Cajun Field. I still wonder why they (and TX A&M) decided to play at Cajun Field.

I remember watching highlights of A&M losing there. I was more shocked about the game being played at USL

Was there too. That Bama team was bad though. QB was named Gary ...., can't remember, probably the worst they've had up until the Francionne days ?
ETA;
BAMA 1990
Hollingsworth.
They had some talent on that team that was young, guess that's why they took off the next year.
Thx Jlnoles I had to look it up.

Someone must have extorted someone else.

Bear had cut a deal with USL. Something like 5 trips to Bama and he agreed to have Bama play at USL once

Yes, and as I recall Bama got half the gate for the game at Lafayette.

You mean they couldn't get a home and home with the lowly tide?

Surprised Farmer didn't accidentally agree to pay Alabama 1.25 mil to play in Tuscaloosa.

All of us? I thought one of us would have won one.

I got you fam.
Every FBS team in Louisiana besides ULL has beaten an SEC team.

It was for charity. Nothing else.

the 1990 season as whole was a weak one for CFB though.
believe it or not, Alabama was one of the best teams in the SEC that year even though they had a depleted offense.
ULL almost beat Alabama the year before in Tuscaloosa also. Can't remember the score but my step dad went to a lot of games back then and I remember him saying Alabama wasn't going to be very good that year cause they had problems with ULL. But
Alabama ended up in the Sugar Bowl against Miami at the end of the year so he was wrong as usual.

Is this article referencing the university as "Louisiana"?

The article is from KATC TV3 in Lafayette...so yes?
People can't say UL enough over here so sports reporters bend over backwards to appease their fans by referencing them as either UL or Louisiana at every opportunity. To do otherwise gets angry emails...
