New details in the arrest of UL basketball player Shawn Long. According to the police report, Long was attending a party in the Trahan building of Legacy Park when officers were called at about 12:20 a.m. Saturday.

Once Long spoke to police, officers say they told Long to leave the party and return to his apartment. According to the report, Long refused to leave even when the backup officer arrived on scene.

When officers tried to leave, they say they saw Long and others standing outside of the Trahan building in Legacy Park. Once again, police say they told Long to go to his apartment.

Around 1:35 a.m., police say they received a complaint of people gathered outside the Trahan building. According to the report, when police arrived, Long was one of the people outside. Officers say when they asked Long to leave again, he became argumentative.

That's when police say they arrested Long and charged him with entry or remaining in places or land after being forbidden.

They reported it the day after it happened. How did they sit on it? Still mad about your sources?

Also this sounds like UP being UP to me.

I was came to that same conclusion reading the above. Cops should have asked at 2 hour intervals until 7 am before arresting.

I read the article yesterday morning. How is that sitting on it? Idiot.

Plus I don't get why there were making them leave. Public property. Wonder why they were being asked to leave. They make it sound like he was the only one asked to leave.

I've dealt with a lot of UP. I'm guessing they knew exactly who he was and decided they'd let him know how much power they have.

I hope you are trolling. I thought you were one of the logical ULL posters.

I'm not saying Long is completely innocent here, he has a tendency to be a bit petulant but I can almost guarantee you that the UPs made sure that situation escalated much more than it should have.

Apparently they wanted to leave an apartment/dorm complex where he actually lives. I'm sure I'd probably have something to tell a UP about that too.

The Lafayette media knew of the arrest at 6:00am on Saturday morning. The Advertiser posted it on their website 36 hours later. THEN INACCURATELY REPORTED THE DETAILS.

Go back to being the douche we all know you to be.

KATC had a story up online over the weekend. The Advertiser had a story up online over the weekend.

Please tell me again how the Lafayette media is conspiring to cover up a story about an athlete standing outside of his dorm at 1:30 in the morning.

Do they teach reading comprehension at ULL?

They sat on the story for 36 hours in order to avoid printing the story in the Sunday edition, the most read edition of the DA.

I used to live in the Legacy apartments. Sketchy as hell. Dude that lived across the hall from me got arrested for rape at the end of the semester.

CORRECTION: Sunday's edition is the only edition read.

The Daily Advertiser, as well as, local radio and tv has become a mouthpiece. Declining memberships and ratings reflect their performance.
