wasn't Hendrix leading in striking after rd 1? I think after that GSP closed the gap.

GSP was winning the striking battle... he just wasn't hitting as hard as Hendricks.

GSP could have won the fight on the score cards.

You could make a case GSP won the 1st 3rd and 5th. 1st round I thought Hendricks won but a biased view could give it to GSP and the 3rd was a tossup. The 5th was clearly GSP's and 2 and 4 were clearly Hendricks. That is why you never leave it up to the judges in a championship fight.

Honestly if you take out GSP's takedown within the first few seconds of rd 1.....he didn't do much else the entire round. Wasn't rd 1 the rd hendrix was pounding gsp's temple with his elbows?

fricking exactly.

I had Hendricks winning the first which is why I had him winning.

Hendricks is a fricking idiot for coasting in the 5th round.

Not even remotely a robbery.

Yep. He paced himself in the 3rd round too. Oh well.

Round 1

Fox Sports

Hendricks 10-9 -- Punches and elbows in a clinch plus a takedown. Hendricks opened up a cut on GSP's left eye. Good round by the challenger. Time for St-Pierre to adjust.

Sherdog

SHERDOG SCORES
Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Hendricks
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Hendricks
Mike Whitman scores the round 10-9 Hendricks

MMAJunkie

I was following the live odds in this fight. After the fight ended my site was offering GSP +1.5 rounds at +285 odds. Dropped some nice coin since I couldn't see anything less than 47-48 for GSP at the very least.

You only coast in the fifth round of a fight versus GSP if you've DOMINATED the first four rounds.

I couldn't believe what I was watching. And then the celebration

He deserves no sympathy.

Damn, I forgot this fight was happening tonight.

Weren't movie theaters showing this fight tonight?

Anyone watch in that setting? If so, what was the experience like?

So round 1 won it for GSP.

ETA: The 2 judges who gave it to GSP gave him the first and they all had it the same in the other rounds.

Pretty much.

I had Hendricks winning (granted I really wanted him to win), and he did well for four rounds.

But seriously how do you coast the final round in the biggest fight of your life when you clearly haven't dominated the first four rounds?

I hate the idea that "you have to take the belt from the champion." It's absurd. It's absurd in boxing, it's absurd in MMA. But he had not dominated the fight. His corner should have been telling him that he had to win the 5th just to be sure.

But it's been proven time and time again if you don't win beyond a shadow of a doubt they are going to give the decision to the champ.
