Even usl was pretty good at that time. The state had a lot of good college teams in those years

Wasn't Tim Floyd the coach down at UNO at that time?

I remember some story about Floyd finding one of his players bagging groceries at a local store. ESPN did a special on him?

Yea Ervin Johnson. His wiki said it was a BR grocery store. How the hell did Dale let him get away?

That's him! Yea, UNO was a very good team during that time. I remember Louisiana sending 5 or 6 teams to the tourney 1 year.

Has any coach ever squandered more talent than Perry Clark did with his Fab Five recruiting class? (The fifth guy ended up not playing because of medical issues, and sadly died a couple of years ago.)

One recruiting class he had four of the countrys best 150 recurits .. never knew how he managed that

We didn't have a point guard. Brought in a guy from OK, and he tore up both knees. Got a couple JUCO guys who never panned out. Our last true PG under Perry was Leveldro Simmons.

BTW, this is one of the most depressing threads ever. When I started at Tulane, we were a solid hoops and baseball school.

It all went downhill when we put AC in Fogelman...

Did anybody click on the 91-92 UNO blowout clip on there? Think about how crazy it is that Sportscenter reported on a UNO-Tulane game. Also there's probably more people in the stands for that game than have been at the last 4-5 UNO-Tulane games.

I did, and was thinking the same thing. It's amazing to see the Lakefront Arena full now. I don't think they can even get 500 in there for most games.

they're lucky that building draws in enough concerts and graduations to pay for itself... renovations were just completed post-Katrina, but for its intended purpose, it's going to waste if basketball will never fill it again
