The Posse

I never knew Tulane recieved the "Death Penalty" for alleged point shaving in the mid 80's? "Hot Rod" Williams was one of the accused.

How many of you guys remember those Perry Clark teams? It was a fun time to be a college Basketball fan back then...

LSU, Tulane, and UNO were all postseason relevant. Seems like forever ago now.

They never got the death pelenty from the ncaa.

Perry had it going for a while but never could get past the second round in the big dance.

One recruiting class he had four of the countrys best 150 recurits .. never knew how he managed that

I remember Honeycutt was one of the better players that came out of Tulane but I don't think he made much noise in the pro's.

I agree, but that was an awesome job by Perry Clark to bring them back from the ashes. Says he was a recruiting machine for Bobby Crimons at GT before going to Tulane.

Honeycutt

That shot he hit against FSU was awesome. Think he won an ESPY for that.

Given the current state of the program it is hard to believe that one of the main reasons the NO Arena was built was to house the tulane men's basketball team.

I don't recall that ever being even close to the main reason. From the get-go is was intended to make The Yella Boys (Marc Morial's cronies) money and to lure an NBA team.
It accomplished both.

Did anybody click on the 91-92 UNO blowout clip on there? Think about how crazy it is that Sportscenter reported on a UNO-Tulane game. Also there's probably more people in the stands for that game than have been at the last 4-5 UNO-Tulane games.

Tulane basketball was nice for a minute. i remember Gerald Honeycutt, Chris Cameron, Cory Childs, and Leveldro Simmons. I also recall a midnight madness with Chris Cameron where he ran to the rim, took of his shirt, and did some athletic double pump dunk. Too bad they couldn't make a deep run with that team.

here's a what-if... let's say Tulane abandons Fogelman in 1999 to play in the Arena full-time

what is their average attendance and are they more like a Memphis?

Wasn't Tim Floyd the coach down at UNO at that time?

No they'd be exactly like Tulane's football team.

A huge reason the legislature voted yes was the potential revenue source from Tulane basketball to help keep the arena afloat before the city was able to attain a NBA franchise. I think it is pretty safe to say that it would not have gotten approval if it were not for the potential of Tulane basketball at that time.

No clue because Tulane had already started the downward slid by that time but if they had the arena in the early and mid 90s I would say that they would have had avg. 15k.
