That’s pretty remarkable. I miss Southern Miss being really good. I remember the ‘Nasty Bunch’ and those great USM defenses

Me too ... well, about as far back as the early 90s, anyway.

I wouldn’t say it was good, but I also don’t think MTSU is as bad as their record indicates.
I’m looking at it long term. This is the kind of game that will cause the selection committee to look down on Liberty when it comes to picking the G5 NY6 participant. W/way too close wins like this and the Sam Houston game on their record they probably won’t get taken over an unbeaten Air Force, 1 loss Tulane, 1 loss Miami-Ohio, 1 loss Toledo, or 1 loss Fresno State. They may not even get taken over a 2 loss Memphis, SMU, or Wyoming.

Pretty crazy South Alabama did not get a Football team until 2009!
SAD how far USM has fallen! Fumble! Cant even score at TD at the end 55 - 3
Impressive FBS newcomer Jax State is 5 - 2 and hanging with the Hilltoppers!

USM should steal Rich Rod from JSU. I'm not sure what it is he's done to make them as good as they are so fast but if he can do it there he can surely do it for the Golden Eagles.

They are eating yards they may not have to worry about winning by a field goal.

I would hate to be a field goal kicker. You're either the hero or a heel.

If they were unbeaten, beat the shite out of their opponents, and depending on who else was there and who they lost to they might. The close wins over MTSU and Sam Houston are probably a killer though.

Now we need even more pressure from the media on the NCAA to reverse their stupid arse decision block JSU and JMU from being eligible for bowls.

If they were unbeaten…

Rich Rodriguez was reported to be the next head coach of Alabama heading into the 2007 season. He backed out and remained the head coach at West Virginia, and was so close to playing for a national title in 2007.
He then went to Michigan for 3 years and Arizona for 6.
He’s now coaching Jacksonville State and playing on Tuesday nights.
What a world college football is.

This is him doing time for the Arizona off-field shenanigans.
Man is a winner. He'll move up again this offseason.
