Anthony Davis is pretty much locked in for at least the next 6 years.

EG is locked in for another 3.

We're getting another lotto pick that can be locked in for 7 should he prove to be worth that.

<1% chance he suits up as a Pelican.

I think he's a poon sometimes, but no doubting that he's an elite PG. hornets have to at least offer him a max deal and put the hard sell on

You hate when people do what?

AD will be around for another 6 seasons or so, minimum.

Stupid decision from a financial perspective to turn down a max guaranteed contract to make 50% less in the first year to be a UFA the following year. Injuries happen, careers end, could happen to anyone...Would suck to miss out on $60 million dollars or what not.

It's why you rarely see a player sign the qualifying offer.

I don't have the exact numbers, but it would cost him about $6m in 2016, about $2m in each of the following 4 years, and a 5th year of the extension (which no one else can offer) worth about $20m.

Eric Gordon had the option of signing the qualifying offer knowing that if he didn't the Hornets were going to match anyway. He could have signed it, made about $5 million this past year and he would be an UFA right now. Money always wins.

And, IMO, the biggest thing that will keep CP3 from considering NOLA is Eric Gordon's injury history and fairly poor play last season. He very well may return to being a very good defender and 20+ppg player that can stay healthy, but it's a risk. Had EG played ~70 games last season at a higher level, the Pelicans' chances would be a LOT better.

Which is why he's almost certainly going to be a Clipper next season. Though one team that isn't getting enough attention in the CP3 sweepstakes is Denver. They could extend Iggy and be an attractive team. Lawson + Chandler or Brewer (not sure if that kind of S&T works) + would be a great return in a sign and trade for the Clippers and Denver would still have a frickload of talent around CP3.

Yea denver is a team to watch out for.

He pretty much has to stay in the West, because if winning is the most important, I can't see any team in the East that actually has the ability to pay him is anywhere close to competing with the Heat out of the East.

It'll be LA, Hou, ATL, NO in that order.

I'd be shocked if he didn't re-sign. And if he didn't, I think it's Houston unfortunately.

And Dire Wolf, gfy.

He'll be in Dallas way before he goes back to New Orleans.

Only like 2 people in this thread know how the salary cap works. CP3 has like 3 legitimate options LAC, DAL, ATL, and maayyybe Houston (but I'm sure they want a big, not another guard).
