San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker is expected to undergo season-ending surgery after sustaining a left leg injury Wednesday night, league sources told The Vertical.

After suffering a non-contact leg injury in the 121-96 Game 2 victory over Houston on Wednesday night, Parker underwent an MRI on Thursday morning in San Antonio. The team is expected to rule out Parker for the rest of the playoffs and schedule a procedure based on the outcome of the MRI exam, league sources said.

Parker needed to be carried off the floor Wednesday night in San Antonio. Parker had 18 points before the injury. Patty Mills will likely take on a larger role in Parker’s absence.

For the Spurs, the loss of Parker is a devastating blow. Parker, 34, averaged 15.9 points and 3.1 assists this postseason. He’s been part of four NBA title teams with San Antonio. The Spurs travel to Houston for Game 3 on Friday with their Western Conference semifinal series tied 1-1.

It's not bad for the Spurs. Mills needs to be getting more run.

That's a bummer. We are about to see a lot more of Simmons and Anderson

Simmons seemed legit but Mills will need to hit 1.5 extra threes per game now

Damn, just sucks for Frenchie McWonderbutt. What an awful, abrupt end.

Damn, man. Feels.

Not at all. Just a veteran, 4x NBA Champion that was averaging 15 points (52.5 FG%) while playing just over 26 minutes/game this postseason.

shite this sucks. Thought it wasn't good last night the way he didn't move.

Spurs are going to miss him. Local sports idiot this morning was saying Spurs have no shot to win the series with Parker out.

I don't know about that... We will see, just glad Spurs have some ok depth. We need Mills to step up for his team.

Not when a team moves the ball like San Antonio. It's not a team where the point guard holds the ball for 80% of a possession.

Injuries are an excuse, rust is a reason.

It definitely hurts. We are going to see Manu running point a lot more now. Which is scary as hell. But if good Manu shows up, watch out.

Manu running more point, holy crap I'm going to need to drink more while watching my Spurs on Friday.

Manu has been trending more towards bad Manu recently making ridiculous turnovers. I hope good Manu makes an appearance the rest of the series.

Edit: your profile picture fits perfectly with your comment.

He plays with a lot of emotion though. Maybe seeing his best bud go down will light a spark under him and make him want to go out on a high note.
