He was batting .222 with 3 home runs, 23 RBIs, a .311 on-base percentage and a .340 slugging percentage with 69 strikeouts and 23 walks in 212 at-bats for the Columbia Fireflies.

I'm not a "for no reason" Tebow hater but he is clearly not being promoted based on performance.

He was batting around .150 the first month, but around .270 these past two

I didn't think he'd make it out of rookie ball.

As of May 1st, his average was .237

Now he's hitting .222 overall.

So like, pretty sure he's not hitting .270 these last two months.

Yep seems valid. For one he's older and older guys usually advance faster as they need to find out quicker if they can hack it or not. the pitching gets better as you go, but they also throw more strikes. I've talked to a few guys who thought low A or Rookie was one of the tougher minor league levels to hit at just because it can be full of guys who throw hard but are all over the place.

Fwiw, league average slash is .251/.318/.372.

That's good for an OPS of .691.

I know Tebow probably carries a different set of circumstances with him, but in most minor leage cases, they promote not necessarily based on pure stats in A ball.

If someone hits in low A ball with some power they will usually advance them to see if they can cut it against better pitching. I worked in minor league baseball previously and Travis D'Arnoud was on our team... same league as Tebow is in now. He was batting like .190 and got promoted. Everyone in the organization knew he was going to be a big leaguer.

shite gets REAL in AA ball... That's when there are legit major leaguers on every team. If Tebow gets to AA that's a pretty admirable feat.

Michael Jordan made it to AA ball. It doesn't mean anything.

Guys get promoted all of the time with subpar numbers.

Don't read too much into it.

According to his stats here, he's never hit under .250 in single a ball.
