As a somewhat serious golfer, I respect everything Tiger has accomplished on the PGA tour and all over the world. He may possibly regain some of the magic he had while dominating golf. But if he, and Phil too, are no threat to win the tournament their playing in, show the players that are.

I agree. CBS is certainly going to devote some air time to his return. It will be interesting to see how much exposure he gets on the weekend if he's not in contention.

I'm talking about the fact that the state of the game was fine before the mid 90's, and it'll be fine when Woods retires.

That's all.

That's a given. No matter what he scores. Tiger can be on top and the ratings will be better than the Masters.

It's been 6 years since #14. I wouldn't rule him out winning another, but the clock is ticking. Let's see how he performs in the two majors remaining this year.

Or the scroll on the screen showing the top 20 on the leaderboard and tiger at 62.

Have you ever posted in a golf thread that doesn't involve Tiger?

Pretty sure if the ratings are going to drop like they are saying here, Tiger fans are not golf fans. Has nothing to do with playing golf. They will not watch golf. This conversation is about watching golf not playing golf. Tiger fans will not watch golf after he leaves or the ratings will not drop. Lebron fans will not watch or be a fan of the Miami Heat after he leaves. Sorry if you don't see the similarities. That is the problem with young sports watchers. They have no loyalty to teams or sports. Just care about individuals. Similar to Lebron.

This proves your ignorance ....

I'll wager I watch and play as much golf as anyone else on this board (live on a course, get lessons from a top 100 teacher, and have been a victor dubission fan since he played a charity match with McDowell and creamer 3 years ago) ... But when tiger is in contention I am way more interested... Yes I have other players I follow and hope to win, but when tiger is in contention I'm glued to every shot....

If this is true about Tiger fans, then I guess the ratings don't drop. Thanks for clearing that up. Nice bragging though. I would still whip you on the golf course. Enjoy your teacher.

If a young gun like Reed or Spieth win a major soon and then add another, Tiger would be less and less needed. The Tiger lovers know he has about 5 years tops left. I'd say he plays in a couple majors reinjures something and retires by 2016.
