and he'll use that "extra special" exemption to withdraw right before he misses the cut, like he tends to do when he's not doing well....

Like he did at the Masters this year?

Playing in obvious pain, highest score among those who made the cut (yes, I realize you said before he misses the cut) and yet still played all 72 holes.

LOL. Go ahead and recount the times he has done this in his career. You won't even need one hand. Heck, maybe a couple of fingers.

I googled it - 8 times.

After making the cut. The post said before the cut when he was playing bad.

Try again.

I was posting that to help your argument It's only happened twice in majors, and like you say, both after the cut. He's only had 13 WD's in his entire career. Most coming later in his career though obviously. He only had one in his first 316 career starts.

So in a 30 year career he’s withdrawn from a total of 8 tournaments. That’s not a big number

Haha for real. I don't know why they have to show every shot he makes even when he is out of the hunt.

They should just show his good shots, and have him on a featured groups feed seperate from the main feed

He’s only withdrawn 8 times in the last 10 years

Because he still draws eyeballs

That’s the only thing the network cares about

Is he finishing in last place or is he making the cut? I’m confused based on your post

Whoever DV'd this has never played there. I'm a pretty good golfer, and I've played No. 2 three times. My lowest score, third time playing it in four years, was an even 100. Those little bushes along the fairway can go frick themselves. Miss a fairway, and your ball is stopping right behind one. Those turtle shell greens can go frick themselves. Hit a great shot and just watch your ball roll right off hole after hole and you'll start drinking on the front 9 like it's a muni course.

You really should have gone with us one of those times to play there for free. Not to mention VIP access at the 2014 US Open for free.

You’re right tiger means more to the game of golf than Jack ever did. Tiger opened up the sport to actual athletes and to people who considered themselves sports fans and not the 1% of the population who grew up at a country club.

Golf wouldn’t be around if not for the likes of jack nicholas and those who played in that era. Those guys were playing to eat and support their families and not being made multimillionaires upon signing up.

Those guys were the greatest ones, woods benefited greatly from the road they paved for him.

Tiger wasn’t playing for multimillions upon signing up either. All of the money in the game of golf is solely because of Tiger.

The purse at the masters when Tiger won in 1997 was $486,000 for the winner. It was $1,305,000 for the winner in 2007. Wonder what made it go up so much

someone who has earned the right to play by actually playing and finishing rounds????

You know, he just might have earned it by being the GOAT.

It’s not like he’s some random guy that bought the exemption or inherited it based on his dads accomplishments

The guy earned any special exemptions the pga cares to bestow

Woods, now 48, signed a five-year, $40 million deal with Nike as a young phenom in 1996. A five-year, $100 million contract followed in 2001, and his next pact with the athletic-goods giant was worth $320 million over eight years.Feb 12, 2024

Yeah, starvation wages I tell you. Poor woods….he sure had to worry about his next meal for sure.

If the old school guys didn’t perform they went to work, if woods had a bad day he went to Disney world…a good bit of difference there..

You think Jack Nicklaus is why Nike paid Tiger 40 million at age 21?

…or maybe it was because Tiger was the biggest amateur phenom the sport has ever seen, wasn’t your typical rich white country club kid, and took a leap of faith investing in him like they did with Jordan in the 80s. Turns out they struck gold with that investment

Golf was stagnant when Tiger came on the scene. You can debate who is a better golfer but Tiger’s impact on the popularity and growth of the sport is undeniable
