I think you're exaggerating a bit but I get that argument too.
But say the Reds finish a game back of the Diamondbacks, they're probably pissed that they didn't get to face Casper Wells.

Yeah but no one would really be pissed because that's baseball. You'd never hear of the Casper Wells game from either fan base.
If a team missed the playoffs after a 162 game season because of a tie, seriously, a city would burn to the ground.

You will get ripped/are getting ripped, but I agree with you. It's the regular season. Yes, there are individual games, but it's really 1/162 of the larger "game" which determines the playoffs. The ultimate goal isn't to determine who is the best team at the end of the night, it's to determine who are the best teams at the end of September. Ties in no way hinder that (in fact, they probably make it more accurate). A win/loss goes into the standings used to determine said best teams at the end of September.

you know since we're talking about all these concussions now, you know what sport should ditch overtime in the regular season?
Football.
it's unnecessary risk for the players just bc bloodthirsty fans think we HAVE to have a winner on that particular day.
TV would like it since they don't have to go over their broadcast window.
coaches should suck it up since 60 minutes to win the game is plenty. if they want to play for a tie they'll get one and not the win
plus if we have more ties we won't have as many playoff spots decided by crap like conference record, common opponents record since teams will have more separation in the standings.

Bad, useless idea. Nothing wrong with extra innings. Also nothing wrong with losing because your team's pitching staff wore out before the other team's did, which is what happened last night.

Yeah but Reds fans don't have to watch Heath Bell suck arse, which led to us burning our bullpen and another starting pitcher to win the game off Casper Wells.
