Glad to see him

With all the forgiveness we show in society these days, I have now changed my view on this - let the man in.

Ray Fosse should greet him at home plate.

It's great - baseball needs to be stop being dumb and lift the ban. The holier than thou baseball writers also need to drop their sanctimonious curmudgeonry and elect Bonds, Maguire, Clemens, and Rose into the HOF ASAP.

To me this was Rose's biggest crime. Dude is a total POS and a-hole... But then again so was Ty Cobb. Both textbook first ballot HOFers and both top 10 players of all time.

Should not be near the field. He broke the one rule that you can not break, betting on games.

I have no sympathy for him. But if he would ever come clean and be completely honest, I may be swayed.

I agree in that if they haven't technically lifted the ban he shouldn't be on the field. But maybe this is a precursor to the right outcome.

He got his due in the Team of the Century deal and Selig lifted the ban for the moment. But he has made a mockery of his ban, which is funny in commercials. But I do not see any contrition.

The ban is a mockery.

How so? When you break the cardinal rule and it is clearly stated in every clubhouse from Minor Leagues to Major Leagues, you deserve that ban.

He's a top 3 hitter of all time and was the face of baseball in the rust belt for at least a decade. He's more than done his time.

Yet broke the most sacred rule. That alone deserves the ban.

Unless they come out with proof that he bet on his team to lose, then I don't see anything too wrong. Especially nothing worth a lifetime ban.

Even if he DID bet on his team to lose, I'll need to see something that convinces me he tried to throw a game.

Which is throwing a game, not betting on games.

IF he betted on his team to lose, then that's one thing. But never has there been any proof of this.

If the dude had a gambling problem (and guarantee he's not the only one who bet on his own sport), but never threw a game - then let this charade be over with.

I was just at the HOF a couple of weeks ago and they sure don't dance around mentioning Pete Rose's statistical achievements in the museum. Complete BS.
