The first three games of the World Series between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Texas Rangers have been the least-watched ever for an MLB championship as two relatively unpopular teams see their games trumped in viewership by the football season.

Would have been nice to have seen a fall classic with two teams with a national fan base like Boston, New York, Chicago and St. Louis instead of two teams like Texas and Arizona with merely a regional fan base.

Happy for the Rangers fans on here, but it was the worst WS of my life - could not care less.

You legit watched almost all of it. I saw you in the game threads. I will say I was dead wrong about viewership being down for this.

Why would that have been nice?

Why would you care about that unless you’re in the league front office or a business running advertisements during the games?

The best teams were eliminated. Two barely popular teams played. For the past few decades, the future viewers weren't old enough to stay up and watch - declining viewership not surprising. Expansion has diluted the product on the field. I love baseball, but even I can't get interested in it this year. MLB, do better.

Teams with “national” fan bases should try losing less fricking games.

I will never understand why the average sports fan gives a shite about ratings.

Here's a wild idea, maybe MLB could do a better job of promoting their stars and their product in general. Corbin
Carroll is gonna be rookie of the year. Casuals should know him. They don't. Rangers have multiple established stars.

When all you do is shove Yanks/Sox and Ohtani down our throats all year long, you get bad ratings when they're not in the playoffs.

National audience only cares about

Dodgers
Cubs
Yankees
Red Sox.

Anything else will yield below average audiences.

Didn't read article but would like to see local viewership

Houston-Philly rematch was the dream scenario. Instead we got the consistently underperforming rich kid (Texas Rangers) and the scruffy underdog (Arizona).

Underperforming? Didn't they go undefeated on the road in the playoffs?
