We needed 4, to make sure no teams got left out undefeated. I have a harder time feeling bad for a team that has 2 losses.

What the hell will having 8 teams accomplish other than having more teams in that didn't win their conference?
If having a team get in that wins their conference bothers you then frick man, maybe just abolish conference championships. Abolish conferences all-together to make sure tOSU and ND almost always get in.
The 4 team playoff is great. They need to just go ahead and say losing your conference is a big deal. Want to win a national championship? Win your fricking conference.

And as usual, people still fail to see the difference in say #8 and #16. On paper, #8 has a decent shot to beat #1 generally. #16, not so much.
Additionally, most 8-team suggestions include auto bids for the P5 conf champs + 3 at large. Let people piss and moan about the at large slots. The easy reply is "win your conference." That doesn't work now though.

Yeah a 5 loss Arkansas State Sun Belt champ should get in but not a 1-loss Ohio State. fricking brilliant.

We need 6.
1&2 get byes. 3/6 & 4/5 play on campus. Only other rule would be 4 teams in playoff must be a conference champion with 2 at large teams. This would solve almost every possible problem. If you aren't in top 6 you don't deserve a shot. This would also ensure that conf championship games always mean something.

8 would be perfect. 6 is retarded. A bye is too big an advantage for that small of a field.
