FACT
Here's my story. I was the most die hard LSU fan in the world. have a brick with my name on it at mike's cage. I loved LSU football so much, that it controlled my life. after this particular game, my head was pounding because of this call. I took 12 ibuprofen in 6 hours. pain would not go away. went to doc two days later and my blood pressure was 200/100. my wife sat me down and said, please stop getting so involved emotionally. so.......I went to a Cajun game. I'm a hybrid. did not graduate from either school. just love football in Louisiana. born and raised in south la. nevertheless............going to the Cajun game was so much more relaxing that I really enjoyed it.
am I still a tiger fan? you bet your arse. is it sad to say that I have to try my best to not let my health be interfered with the results of LSU athletics? you bet your arse. I just couldn't control it. so.......I suppose that the Cajuns have become my version of Xanax. I know that this sounds strange but, geaux Cajuns and geaux tigers.

You're probably going to get made fun of on here, but good luck to you. It's strange, but common, that we humans have a hard time keeping things in their proper perspective.

LSU sports should not be affecting your health. Mental, physical, etc.
I'm a die hard LSU fan, but at the end of the day, I'm not going to let it harm my life in any sort of way.

Whereas I could never watch ULL because of my ex-brother-in-law, I understand your physiological issues that connect with LSU. I totally get the issues...when LSU loses, I too can feel horrible, not wanting to do anything. So lately I've been weaning myself off of the addiction. If they win, I watch the highlights and wish I would have seen it...but if they lose, I am grateful that I didn't watch and also feel like crap.

Not an uncommon story.
Most people tend to mature as they get older....keep things in perspective.
It's pretty easy to keep your blood pressure down if you're watching a game between two teams that you really don't give a shite about.

I understand. I was the same way except the health problems. I'm still a big fan and have been since I was a child. I've learned to accept losses and it's not a big deal now. I would never latch on to another school although I have nothing against other LA teams.

thanks. it's a true story. i was so mentally invested in LSU football that it became a TRUE way of life. it was unfair to my entire family when i would shut them off for days after a tiger loss. that's no shite. i am older now and really love going to Cajun games due to the expectations not being nearly as high. a loss doesn't affect me like a LSU loss used to. now.......truth be known......if the tigers play the Cajuns and LSU has a record of........let's say.......4-0........I'm pulling for the tigers all day because of the potential national championship hopes. but....if they are 1-3, I'm pulling for the Cajuns. weird huh? i guess i can blame a little on saban for getting us back on top and changing the way i feel about lsu football forever. in the 90's......it was so much easier emotionally when we lost.

I find blaming the coach eases the pain

I rather die than be a cajuns fan.

I'm not trying to be funny, but if that play nearly blew your heart up, how did you honestly survive 01/09/12?

Dear Diary,
I couldn't handle the pressures of major college athletics...

That's not the reaction of a normal, healthy adult. It's irrational to say the least. Sissy

Backhanded Compliment: The Thread
Reminds me of my personal story. Someone held a gun to my head and said become a Cajun fan, so I thought about it for 30 minutes and reluctantly became a Cajuns fan. Now I silently cheer next to all the other Xanax fans that are at the game not trying to get emotionally involved.
