It seems like some writers want us to feel guilty about cheering for these guy. Jonah Keri (who I like) and Keith Law( who I kind of hate) never miss an opportunity to mention what pieces of shite Reyes and Chapman are. Like they think these guys should just be banned from the league

She doesn't have to worry about any of those WS pictures she so dreads. These are still the fricking loser Cubs we're talking about, here.

She's not the only fan to feel this way. She's allowed to still be a Cubs fan and feel icky about the signing at the same time. Particularly after Epstein said they were going to build this team with high character guys.

Yea not sure why people have to separate the two. Either hate the guy and thus Have people tell you to stop being a fan or just say guy throws 103 so who cares. He certainly helps the team but I can completely understand why someone is passionate that he shouldn't have been traded for. Jonah Kerri retweeted someone who was donating money to dv causes for every save he gets. That's a positive way for that fan to deal with the mixture of emotions.

northsidebaseball

Illinois is a very liberal state and we all know that libs love to be heard. They all did the same shite to Kane too, who was never charged and had no known evidence of raping that lady.

I'm not sure it was a great deal only because I think Chapman is overrated.

Sure he can throw 105, but do you have any confidence it will be anywhere near a strike? His "control" (quotes intentional) isn't anything that impresses me.

Wade Davis probably becomes available and wouldn't have cost the Cubs nearly as much.

...

the Cubs decided not to mess around. They shopped in the elite bullpen market and – recognizing it would cost big prospects – initially prioritized a reliever whom they would control beyond this season.

That is why they focused their initial energies on Andrew Miller, who is signed through 2018. But when they recognized the Yankees were not going to get off their request for Kyle Schwarber, they asked the Royals about Wade Davis, who has a $10 million option for 2017, and heard the price was even higher than that.

Did he recently go on the dl and I didn't know about it. Because that's the only way that statement is even close to plausible.

Yes I have some confidence he can throw it for a strike. I also have confidence in the 90 mph breaking ball he will throw immediately following a 100+mph strike. He may get erratic from time to time, but most closers do. He was the most vicious arm available, and they got him.

It's not like he's been ineffective. Taking away the stuff and velocity and just looking at stats he's still an elite reliever

Chapman in 7 major league seasons has 357 appearances, 167 saves, 23 holds, and 19 blown saves. His WHIP is 1.00. His strike percentage is right around the Clayton Kershaw/Noah Syndergaard level. I think he's been fine.

Anybody thinking any of these elite pitchers esp go ANYWHERE for nothing less than a ton aren't paying attention. Cubs made a good deal, their going for it as they should.

Davis, Sale etc, teams want too much in return, not happening this year.

Of course now everyone will be shipped since I've stated that

I think he definitely will help the Cubs, but the Yanks definitely got the better end of this deal.
