There is no way Marvin Lewis survives this season, right?

Seems like a no brainer but that ownership is as bizarre as it gets.

I see them finishing 6-10, maybe 7-9 if the can win road games at Jacksonville and Tennessee. If he loses BOTH that would put them at 5-11.

They are 13th in the NFL in total offense and 17th in total D. For a coach with a defensive background, they are under performing tremendously on D IMO. They have the tools to be a top 10 D.

I am by no means a Bengals fan but Marvin Lewis's job security has always befuddled me. He's a poor man's Mike Scotia.

Who are you going to hire to replace him?

This is the part that's always befuddled me. They should be nasty on defense with all the high picks they've invested along the Dline and secondary and yet they're always middle of the pack.

The offensive ranking is about right IMO, outside of Green they really don't have any other threats on offense with Eifert chronically injured.

do you not remember how bad the Bengals were before Marvin Lewis came to town?

it's clearly time to move on but he made them at least somewhat relevant for awhile.

It seems for over a decade now, Cincinnati has been just good enough, with a couple of bad season sprinkled in, to keep his job. Mike Brown is obviously very patient, and I'm not sure if he's that interested in winning.

With that said, the last 5 years, they have had on paper, what should be a super bowl contending team, and no playoff wins to show for it.

Time to throw the bank at Bob Stoops.

Eifert was more than serviceable before he fricked his back up

People don't realize just how close he and Mike Brown(Bengals owner) are. If we go 7-9 or better this year I'd say he gets a contract extension. Fans want him gone but Mike Brown will never fire him, Lewis will have to step down.

His contract is up IIRC and I doubt he gets a new one unless the coaching prospects are that bad.

The player revolt over the offense and Andy Dalton doesn’t support his case either since it is easier to replace the coach than the players given the cap considerations.

I think we'll be fine on defense for the next few years. Our young guys are really showing something. WJ3 and Darqueze Dennard have played well this year and of course Carl Lawson who is gonna challenge for defensive rookie of the year.

Offense...eh. Green is a star but Dalton is inconsistent to put it at best. Eifert is injured on every play and Ross only played a few snaps before getting injured. He's looking more and more like one of those non stop injured guys. Mixon has been good...when we've used him. He's gonna take the starting job at RB soon. Bernard always makes plays when he gets the ball and who knows about Hill. Our offensive line is hot trash.

We need a new HC to bring energy to the team. Lewis may be the least energized coach I've ever seen.

Their next 4 games:

@ Steelers
Colts
@ Jaguars
@ Titans

If they go 3-1 during that stretch, which I think they can, that puts them at 5-4 with 7 games left. Given Pittsburgh's issues, Cincy could go 9-7 and win the division. Do they fire Lewis if that happens? They haven't done it yet.

I'd say he stays if that happens.

It's such a bad feeling, I want us to win but I know if we do Lewis stays. If we lose he'll probably stay as well but the chances aren't as great.

What is really mind blowing is how people don't get it, but I infer you are young. There is a fundamental reason these men have "had jobs as long as they did". You don't get it bc you are a slave to thinking as a consumer of a product thinks.

I don't ask this to put you down, but how old are you? I am 35, and can recall the many years before Lewis in which the Bengals were bottom dwellers. Hands down the worst franchise for the 10-15 year period prior. I assume Lewis still has plenty of goodwill in that city.

They're 2-3....they've won 2 in a row and look much better. He'll be fine.

They just got Burfict back from suspension

Blame that on the health of Dalton and Green
