And that would be a fair consideration. But there are other arguments against that... all I'm saying is the extra game seems to be an underrated aspect of this. I think it's a big deal especially when a lot of other things are equal. You have something very tangible that's not equal: an extra game.

Absolutely it's smart. The Pac-10 used to do the same thing. In the 2003 debate nobody brought up the fact that LSU and Oklahoma played extra games because USC played that day too even though it was just a regular season game.
